Vijayawada, September 27: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders have warned of statewide protests if cases and arrests against party leaders, workers and participants of the Mega DSC 2025 protest continue. They demanded that police stop midnight arrests and follow due legal procedures.
The warning came after YSRCP leaders met a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the Vijayawada Police Commissionerate and submitted a representation over the cases and arrests linked to the September 21 DSC protest near the State Agency for the Advancement of Sports (SAAP) office in Vijayawada.
The YSRCP had organised the protest alleging irregularities in the Mega DSC 2025 recruitment process.
YSRCP Questions Police Action Over DSC Protest
YSRCP MLC Lella Appireddy alleged that the party had sought permission for a peaceful rally but was denied permission by the police.
He questioned how a large number of teachers were allowed into the SAAP premises when the YSRCP rally had reportedly not been permitted. He also questioned why the police did not prevent a possible confrontation between the two groups.
Appireddy said that video recordings and drone footage from the incident could help establish what happened during the protest.
Ambati Rambabu Objects to Midnight Arrests
Former minister Ambati Rambabu objected to the alleged midnight arrests of people booked in connection with the Mega DSC 2025 protest.
He said that if around 300 people had been booked, they could have been asked to appear before the police in accordance with the law. He alleged that going to people’s homes at midnight to make arrests and creating fear among family members was inappropriate.
Rambabu also questioned the invocation of Section 307 in the cases, asking why it was included when, according to him, there were no reports of weapons being used or serious injuries during the incident.
He also raised objections to the registration of cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Shailajanath Seeks Clarity on Mega DSC 2025 Recruitment
Former minister Sake Shailajanath demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government provide a clear explanation regarding the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC 2025 recruitment process.
He said the government should take responsibility if there were shortcomings in the recruitment procedure and demanded an explanation from the concerned minister.
Devineni Avinash Questions Rally Permissions
NTR district YSRCP president Devineni Avinash questioned why the police allegedly denied permission to the YSRCP for a rally while allowing rallies organised by other political parties on Bandar Road.
He also alleged that arrangements made at the protest location on September 21 contributed to the tense situation.
YSRCP Says Mega DSC 2025 Fight Will Continue
YSRCP leaders said their campaign over the Mega DSC 2025 recruitment issue would continue. They warned that the party would organise protests across Andhra Pradesh if the government did not reconsider the cases and arrests related to the September 21 demonstration.
The leaders demanded an end to midnight arrests and urged the police to ensure that all action against protesters and party workers is taken strictly according to law.
The allegations made by the YSRCP leaders are political claims and would require verification through police records, court proceedings and other official material.
