Former Andhra Pradesh Minister Kurasala Kannababu has criticised the Chandrababu-led government, alleging that it has failed to provide adequate relief to people affected by Cyclone Arnab. Speaking to the media in Kakinada, he said the government was focusing more on review meetings, photographs and videos instead of visiting affected areas and supporting victims on the ground.
Kannababu questioned the government’s decision to ask farmers to upload photographs of crop damage through an app. He said officials should visit villages, inspect damaged fields and assess crop losses directly. He also pointed out that the government had reported crop damage across approximately 8.30 lakh acres and demanded clarity on when compensation would be paid to affected farmers.
Demand to Restore Free Crop Insurance Scheme
The former minister urged the Chandrababu government to restore the free crop insurance scheme implemented during the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government. He also demanded immediate payment of pending input subsidies and compensation for losses caused by the latest cyclone.
Kannababu said the government should extend financial assistance not only to farmers but also to tenant farmers, fishermen, and fish and shrimp farmers who suffered losses due to Cyclone Arnab.
YSRCP Demands Immediate Cyclone Relief
Kannababu urged the state government to stop publicity activities and focus on providing immediate assistance to cyclone victims. He demanded fair compensation for every affected family and called for a transparent assessment of crop and property damage.
He further stated that the YSRCP would continue its fight until all cyclone-affected families received proper compensation and support from the government.
