On the birth anniversary of Telangana ideologue Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar, senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) paid heartfelt tributes, recalling his immense contribution to the Telangana statehood movement and his lifelong dedication to the cause of a separate Telangana.
Harish Rao: Jayashankar Dedicated His Life to Telangana
Former Minister Harish Rao described Prof. Jayashankar as the symbol of the aspirations of nearly 45 million Telangana people, stating that he devoted his entire life to achieving a separate Telangana state.
Harish Rao also credited former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for ensuring that Prof. Jayashankar’s life and ideals are passed on to future generations by including his biography and contributions in the academic curriculum.
KCR Government Honoured Jayashankar’s Legacy
Highlighting the initiatives taken by the previous BRS government, Harish Rao recalled that the state honoured Prof. Jayashankar by naming the Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University and Jayashankar Bhupalpally district after him.
He further noted that the government had officially decided to observe both the birth and death anniversaries of Prof. Jayashankar every year as a mark of respect.
Harish Rao emphasized that the greatest tribute to the Telangana ideologue would be to continue working towards the ideals and vision he stood for throughout his life.
KTR: “His Life Belonged Entirely to Telangana”
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) also paid tribute through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Quoting the famous line, “Birth is yours, death is yours, but your entire life belongs to Telangana,” KTR said the statement perfectly reflected Prof. Jayashankar’s life and commitment to the Telangana movement.
Guiding Force Behind the Telangana Movement
KTR described Prof. Jayashankar as a mentor-like figure to Telangana movement leader KCR, saying he played a pivotal role in spreading the Telangana ideology among the people and igniting the spirit of the statehood movement.
