CM Steps In Amid Complaints of Corruption and Poor Healthcare
Amid growing complaints about corruption, poor hygiene, and the quality of healthcare services in Tamil Nadu’s government hospitals, Chief Minister Vijay personally stepped in to assess the situation. Without any prior notice, he conducted a surprise inspection at the prestigious Institute of Child Health (ICH), a government children’s hospital located in Egmore, Chennai. His unexpected visit caught hospital officials and staff off guard as he inspected various wards and facilities.
CM Vijay Interacts Directly with Patients
During the inspection, Chief Minister Vijay visited multiple wards and spoke directly with patients and their attendants. He enquired about the quality of medical treatment, the availability of free medicines, whether anyone had demanded bribes, and the overall behavior of hospital staff.
The Chief Minister also spent time interacting warmly with young patients and spoke with mothers about their health, the nutritional support being provided, and the medical care available to them.
Strong Warning Over Poor Sanitation
While inspecting the hospital premises and wards, CM Vijay expressed serious displeasure over the unhygienic conditions in certain areas. He questioned hospital officials and sanitation staff, stating that such negligence in a hospital treating children was completely unacceptable.
He emphasized that the government has a responsibility to provide not only quality healthcare but also a clean and safe environment for poor patients who depend on government hospitals. He warned that negligence in maintaining hygiene and healthcare standards would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
More Surprise Inspections Planned Across Tamil Nadu
To improve accountability in the state’s public healthcare system, Chief Minister Vijay announced that he would conduct more surprise inspections at government hospitals across Tamil Nadu without prior notice.
His decision has put the state’s health administration on alert and is expected to increase focus on improving cleanliness, service quality, and overall patient care in government hospitals.
