The case involving Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani has taken a dramatic turn, with fresh revelations emerging almost every day. While the Andhra Pradesh government has projected her as a victim and initiated action against senior IPS officers, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has reportedly concluded, based on technical evidence, that Jethwani is a professional blackmailer.
According to the CID charge sheet submitted before the court, Jethwani allegedly extorted large sums of money from businessman Kukkala Vidyasagar by threatening to file a rape case against him.
₹1.32 Crore Allegedly Extorted from Businessman
The CID investigation found that ₹1.32 crore was transferred from Vidyasagar’s bank accounts to a joint account held by Kadambari Jethwani and her mother.
Investigators reportedly examined phone call records, SMS conversations, and other digital evidence, concluding that the money was obtained through alleged intimidation. The charge sheet also claims that Jethwani had previously made similar allegations against prominent industrialists, including Sajjan Jindal, suggesting a pattern of filing false cases for financial gain.
Statements Contradict Allegations of Illegal Detention
The controversy also surrounds allegations that, during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government, Andhra Pradesh Police illegally detained Jethwani, confined her in government guest houses, and subjected her to harassment.
However, according to her own statements and court records cited in the case, these allegations are not supported by the available evidence.
Jethwani reportedly stated that she was never taken to any government guest house, including the Dr. NTTPS Guest House, and further clarified that she was not subjected to any physical harassment while in police custody.
CID Says Arrest Followed Legal Procedure
The investigation indicates that the entire process from Jethwani’s arrest to the granting of bail was conducted in accordance with legal procedures. The arrest was reportedly carried out with the cooperation of the Mumbai Police, and supporting records have been placed before the court.
Despite this, the present government suspended three senior IPS officers:
- P.S.R. Anjaneyulu
- Kanthi Rana Tata
- Vishal Gunni
Critics argue that the suspensions were based solely on Jethwani’s allegations and that the officers were made scapegoats despite evidence suggesting the investigation was conducted lawfully.
Political Row Intensifies Over Suspension of IPS Officers
The case has also triggered a political controversy. Critics allege that sections of media sympathetic to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) portrayed the suspended officers as guilty even before the investigation concluded, damaging their professional reputations.
Some political observers believe the coalition government used the case to target the previous YSRCP government, while others question the decision to suspend senior officers before the completion of legal proceedings.
VIP Treatment to Jethwani Raises Questions
Another aspect drawing attention is the treatment extended to Kadambari Jethwani after the case gained prominence.
Her meeting with the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister and the VIP protocol reportedly provided during her visit to the Kanaka Durga Temple have become subjects of political debate, with opposition parties questioning the government’s approach toward a person who is now facing serious allegations in the CID charge sheet.

With the CID’s latest report reportedly describing Kadambari Jethwani as a professional blackmailer, the controversy has entered a new phase.
Supporters of the suspended IPS officers argue that the court records and investigation indicate they acted within the framework of the law, and therefore the disciplinary action against them appears politically motivated.
