Former Telangana minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) said the Formula E race was organized with the objective of enhancing Hyderabad’s brand image on the international stage. He alleged that false cases were filed against them by the Congress government over claims of corruption in the conduct of the race.
KTR appeared before the Nampally ACB Court in connection with the Formula E car race case. Speaking to the media after appearing before the court, he said that he would not be intimidated by the cases.
KTR Says He Has Full Faith in Judiciary
KTR said that he has complete faith in the judicial system and that he would continue to fight the case through legal means. He alleged that the police were creating difficulties for them but maintained that such pressure would not deter them.
He also said that he was ready to appear before the investigating authorities whenever he was summoned in connection with the Formula E race case.
‘International Events Help Build Brand Image’
KTR said several other states were organizing international-level events to enhance the brand image of their respective regions. However, he alleged that in Telangana, the government was instead filing false cases against them.
Referring to Tamil Nadu, KTR claimed that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay had travelled to London in connection with the Formula E race. He cited this as an example of how states could use international events to promote their image.
KTR Accuses Congress Government of Targeting BRS Leaders
KTR alleged that the Congress government was targeting BRS leaders and acting against them for political reasons. He also rejected the allegations that he and other BRS leaders were holding assets worth ₹1 lakh crore.
KTR said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had repeatedly made claims regarding assets worth ₹1 lakh crore being held in their names.
KTR’s ‘₹1,000 Crore’ Offer to Revanth Reddy
KTR said he was making an offer to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. If the government believed that they had assets worth ₹1 lakh crore, KTR said those assets could be taken over and ₹1,000 crore could be given to them.
He suggested that the remaining ₹99,000 crore should be used to fulfil the promises made to the people of Telangana.
KTR Compares Allegations to Kaleshwaram Claims
KTR also alleged that the Congress government was engaging in a misinformation campaign against them. He compared the current allegations against BRS leaders to the claims surrounding the Kaleshwaram project, where, he said, a figure of ₹1 lakh crore was repeatedly cited.
KTR maintained that the allegations against him and his party leaders were part of a political campaign and reiterated that they would continue to fight the Formula E case through legal channels.
