The YSRCP has intensified its campaign in Vijayawada West Constituency ahead of the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Local Body Elections. Vijayawada Mayor candidate Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, along with local party leaders, conducted an extensive door-to-door campaign, meeting residents and appealing to them to vote for the party’s Fan symbol. She urged voters to ensure a massive victory for YSRCP candidates.
During the campaign, Rayana Bhagyalakshmi highlighted the development works undertaken in Vijayawada during the previous YSRCP government. She alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government had failed to take up significant development projects in the city since coming to power.
YSRCP leaders also raised concerns over the 2024 Budameru floods in Vijayawada, which caused extensive damage to properties and disrupted the lives of thousands of residents. They alleged that government negligence contributed to the loss of lives and property during the disaster.
YSRCP Highlights Vijayawada Development Projects
Rayana Bhagyalakshmi said several major infrastructure projects currently visible in Vijayawada were initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
She specifically mentioned the construction of the irrigation retaining wall near Kanaka Durga Varadhi and the Riverfront Development project. According to YSRCP leaders, these projects were launched during the previous government to improve the city’s infrastructure and protect residents.
She also highlighted plans to complete the pending flyover on the route to Vijayawada International Airport and construct two additional flyovers along the same route. The leaders urged voters to recognise the infrastructure development undertaken during the YSRCP government, including the Kanaka Durga Flyover and other urban development works.
Ambedkar Park and Outer Ring Road Projects
YSRCP leaders recalled that the previous government laid the foundation stone for the Ambedkar Park project in Vijayawada, with an estimated investment of more than Rs. 400 crore.
They also stated that the Vijayawada Outer Ring Road project had reached nearly 99 per cent completion under the previous government. The project was planned to allow vehicles travelling from Guntur to bypass Vijayawada city, reducing traffic congestion.
In addition, the previous YSRCP government initiated the establishment of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) worth Rs. 239 crore at various locations in Vijayawada. These projects were aimed at improving sewage management and strengthening the city’s urban infrastructure.
YSRCP Highlights Regularisation of 31,866 House Plots
The YSRCP leaders said the previous government had regularised 31,866 house plots belonging to different categories of beneficiaries in Vijayawada, providing legal ownership rights to thousands of families.
They criticised the coalition government, alleging that it had failed to fulfil several major election promises even after two and a half years in office.
Rayana Bhagyalakshmi questioned the status of the promises made by Chandrababu Naidu during the 2024 elections, including the proposed Aadabidda Nidhi scheme, under which women were promised Rs. 1,500 per month.
She also questioned the government’s commitment to providing 20 lakh jobs to unemployed youth or a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000. The YSRCP leaders recalled the financial assistance provided to women through the previous government’s YSR Cheyutha scheme.
YSRCP Targets Coalition Government Over Rising Prices
YSRCP leaders alleged that rising prices of essential commodities under the coalition government had increased the financial burden on ordinary families.
They questioned why the government had failed to fulfil its promises to reduce petrol and diesel prices. The leaders urged voters to question the coalition parties about their unfulfilled election assurances.
While explaining the development and welfare initiatives undertaken during the previous YSRCP government, Rayana Bhagyalakshmi appealed to people to support the party’s candidates in the upcoming local body elections.
Expressing confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, she said people were closely observing the coalition government’s performance and would give an appropriate response through their votes. She called upon voters to elect YSRCP candidates with a huge majority in the upcoming elections.
