An unexpected political development has emerged in Visakhapatnam amid the ongoing local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. Bolisetti Satyanarayana, a former Jana Sena leader known to be close to party chief Pawan Kalyan and an active environmental campaigner, has publicly extended his support to YSRCP candidate Varudu Kalyani.

Bolisetti Questions Jana Sena’s Share in Local Elections
In his video message, Bolisetti Satyanarayana said alliance partners should work together wherever coalition principles are being followed. However, he also stressed that Jana Sena workers and Veera Mahilas should receive proper representation in areas where the party has not secured its expected 30 per cent share.
His remarks come amid criticism that Jana Sena has received fewer seats than expected in the ongoing local body elections. Allegations have also surfaced that Pawan Kalyan agreed to a limited number of seats under pressure from TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Explaining his decision, Bolisetti said the interests of Visakhapatnam should take priority over party affiliations.

- Conservation of Simhachalam hills.
- Protection of natural resources.
- Opposition to the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
According to Bolisetti, YSRCP candidate Varudu Kalyani has publicly given assurances on these issues. He said he was supporting her because of her commitment to protecting the city’s interests.
He added that although Varudu Kalyani belongs to YSRCP, supporting a candidate who promises to safeguard Visakhapatnam’s future is his responsibility.
Bolisetti Expresses Disappointment Over Jana Sena Candidate Selection
Bolisetti also expressed disappointment over the denial of an opportunity to Jana Sena leader Murthy Yadav, whom he described as a deserving candidate.
He said that, considering the long-term interests of Visakhapatnam, Varudu Kalyani would be a better choice than the candidate selected by TDP.
While acknowledging the importance of alliance principles, he maintained that the city’s environmental protection and development should not be compromised for political reasons.
He also appealed to political leaders to consider regional interests while deciding the next mayor.
