68-Day Remand Ends.. Alur YSRCP MLA Busine Virupakshi Gets Bail from High Court

Alur YSRCP MLA Busine Virupakshi has received relief from the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which granted him bail in an SC/ST Atrocities case. Virupakshi had been in district jail on remand for the past 68 days.

The High Court’s latest order clears the way for the MLA’s release. He had already secured bail in some of the other cases filed against him. The latest relief in the SC/ST Atrocities case has brought some relief to YSRCP supporters.

High Court Hears Bail Plea

Virupakshi’s legal team approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking bail in the case. Arguments from both sides were completed on Tuesday.

Senior advocate Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, along with YSRCP Legal Cell state secretary Jeevan Singh and advocate Lakshmikanth, appeared for the MLA.

After hearing the arguments and examining the case details, the court reserved its decision for Thursday. The court subsequently granted bail to Virupakshi in the SC/ST Atrocities case.

What Is the Case About?

The case is connected to an alleged attack on the house of YSRCP leader Giri in Sangala village of Chippagiri mandal.

According to YSRCP leaders, TDP leader Nagaraju and his supporters allegedly attacked Giri’s house. MLA Busine Virupakshi reportedly visited the village to meet and support the affected family.

YSRCP sources alleged that individuals associated with the TDP threw stones at the MLA during the incident. His brother Sriramudu was reportedly injured in the incident.

YSRCP leaders further alleged that although a complaint was made against the TDP leaders, the police did not take appropriate action. They claimed that cases were subsequently registered against Virupakshi, portraying him as responsible for the incident.

YSRCP Raises Questions Over Arrest

The YSRCP has also raised allegations regarding the manner in which Virupakshi was arrested.

According to the party, a large number of police personnel went to the MLA’s residence during the midnight hours and allegedly caused fear among his family members. The party claimed that the police broke open doors and arrested Virupakshi and his son Chandrasekhar before taking them to the Chippagiri police station.

Virupakshi was later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

68-Day Remand Comes to an End

With the Andhra Pradesh High Court granting bail in the SC/ST Atrocities case, Busine Virupakshi is now set to come out of jail after 68 days of remand, subject to completion of the required bail formalities.

The development is likely to provide a political boost to the YSRCP, which had repeatedly questioned the cases and the circumstances surrounding the MLA’s arrest.
