YS Jagan Holds Meeting with YSRCP MLAs and MLCs
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly and Legislative Council sessions, YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with the party’s MLAs and MLCs and outlined the strategy to be followed during the sessions. He directed party legislators to raise public issues more strongly than before and use the party’s strength in the Legislative Council to question the government on matters concerning the people.
YSRCP to Question Government with Facts and Evidence
YS Jagan alleged that the government was unwilling to recognise YSRCP as the principal opposition party. He said that although the party had limited opportunities in the Assembly, its members should explain the facts to the public with evidence and supporting documents on issues raised by the government.
He advised YSRCP MLCs to be fully prepared and raise public issues effectively in the Legislative Council, where the party has greater strength.
DSC Irregularities and Demand for CBI Probe
YS Jagan said YSRCP had been conducting various programmes for the past 74 days over alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process. He demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, holding him responsible for the alleged irregularities.
He raised concerns over alleged changes in merit lists, government orders related to the sports quota and the appointment of candidates without conducting competitive examinations. He also demanded a CBI investigation into the DSC issue.
Fee Reimbursement Arrears of ₹12,400 Crore
YS Jagan alleged that fee reimbursement payments had been pending for 13 quarters. According to him, around ₹9,100 crore in fee reimbursement and another ₹3,300 crore under Vasathi Deevena were pending, taking the total dues to approximately ₹12,400 crore.
He directed the party’s MLCs to strongly raise the issue in the Legislative Council and question the government over the pending payments.
Farmers’ Issues and Criticism of PPP Policy
YS Jagan alleged that farmers were struggling due to the lack of remunerative prices for their crops. He criticised the government for allegedly setting aside policies such as free crop insurance and input subsidies.
He also criticised the new PPP policy, describing it as being similar to an “Andhra Pradesh for Sale” approach. He argued that essential public services such as drinking water, schools and hospitals should not be handed over to private entities.
Allegations of Cases Against Protesters and BC Leaders
YS Jagan alleged that cases were being filed against people conducting peaceful protests and that BC leaders were being targeted through what he described as illegal cases. He said the party would fight these issues legally and continue to raise them in the legislature.
Thumati Madhava Rao Proposed for Deputy Chairman Post
YS Jagan announced that the party would nominate Thumati Madhava Rao for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council. He asked all YSRCP MLCs to support him and coordinate with one another to ensure that the election proceeds smoothly.
Jagan Criticises Chandrababu’s White Papers
YS Jagan criticised the white papers being released by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, referring to them as “yellow papers.” He instructed party leaders not to speak in the House without adequate preparation and stressed that every issue should be presented with facts, evidence and supporting material.
Other Issues Discussed
The meeting also covered several other issues, including the junior doctors’ strike, government schools, women’s welfare schemes, bank loans, GO No. 3 and the proposed privatisation of APSRTC.
YS Jagan directed party legislators to remain well prepared and focus on people’s problems throughout the Assembly and Legislative Council sessions.
