The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is intensifying its campaign over alleged irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process in Andhra Pradesh. Former minister and YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu announced that the party will stage a major protest outside the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office in Vijayawada at 10 a.m. on September 21.
Ambati made the announcement during a press conference held at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli.
Protest Against Alleged DSC Irregularities on September 21
Ambati Rambabu alleged that the government had deceived unemployed youth by announcing that the DSC recruitment would be conducted for 16,000 posts. He claimed that increasing the sports quota from 2 per cent to 3 per cent had caused injustice to eligible candidates while allegedly benefiting ineligible candidates.
He also alleged that a question paper leak had taken place during the DSC recruitment process.
YSRCP Demands Judicial Inquiry
Ambati said that even among candidates who secured jobs, there was uncertainty about how they were selected. He demanded an immediate judicial inquiry into the entire recruitment process.
He said the government should first conduct a comprehensive investigation into the allegations surrounding the current DSC recruitment before making announcements about filling government vacancies every year.
Government Unable to Answer Questions, Ambati Alleges
Ambati alleged that the government had failed to provide satisfactory answers to the questions raised by the YSRCP over the alleged DSC irregularities.
He further alleged that the government was attempting to shift responsibility onto officials and make them scapegoats. Questioning the recruitment process, Ambati asked whether jobs had been allegedly given to people who participated in Nara Lokesh’s padayatra.
Allegations Against Chandrababu and Lokesh
Ambati alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was trying to protect Education Minister Nara Lokesh over the issue.
He also made a political allegation that if another minister belonging to an SC or BC community had been involved in a similar controversy, the government would have already sought the minister’s resignation.
Ambati claimed that the government was under pressure whenever the DSC issue was raised. He alleged that attempts were being made to suppress criticism by removing social media videos of those questioning the recruitment process and by restricting television channels that broadcast such reports.
YSRCP Vows to Continue Agitation
Ambati Rambabu said that the government could not suppress the movements of unemployed youth and affected candidates by using the police.
He announced that the YSRCP would continue its agitation until a judicial inquiry into the DSC recruitment allegations is conducted and justice is delivered to those affected.
