YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with senior party leaders to discuss alleged irregularities and violence during the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. The meeting focused on the Supreme Court’s directions, continuing election-related violence, and measures needed to protect democracy in the state.
During the meeting, Jagan said the Supreme Court had expressed concern over alleged violations of democratic principles and issued directions to the State Election Commission in view of the reported irregularities and violence during the elections.
YS Jagan Accuses Chandrababu Naidu of Organised Election Violence
Jagan alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was deliberately allowing organised violence during the local body elections. He claimed that the situation on the ground had not improved despite the Supreme Court’s directions.
The YSRCP chief also alleged that violence continued during the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections. He criticised the alleged misuse of the police by the ruling party and said such incidents were unfortunate for a democratic system.
Despite these challenges, Jagan praised YSRCP leaders and party workers for continuing their efforts to protect democratic rights and participate in the electoral process.
YSRCP Leaders Asked to Collect Evidence of Election Irregularities
Jagan directed party leaders to systematically collect strong evidence of alleged election irregularities, violence, and other incidents reported at the grassroots level.
He urged party leaders to present the collected evidence before the courts and continue their legal fight to ensure accountability. He stressed that protecting democracy was the responsibility of every citizen and called on party cadres to remain determined in their efforts.
The YSRCP leadership reiterated its commitment to pursuing legal action over alleged election-related violence and irregularities in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting comes amid political tensions over the conduct of local body elections, with the YSRCP raising concerns about electoral fairness and the implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions.
