The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has launched a sharp attack on the Coalition Government over its publicity surrounding the land resurvey programme in Andhra Pradesh. The party alleges that key systems being highlighted as part of the resurvey including QR codes, geo-boundaries and LPM numbers—were introduced and developed during the previous YSRCP government.
According to the YSRCP, the Chandrababu Naidu-led government is now putting its own stamp on the existing system and attempting to claim complete credit for the work.
The party has also questioned the government’s stand on land resurvey, pointing out that those who had promised before the elections to stop the resurvey are now continuing the same process after coming to power and presenting it as their achievement.
The YSRCP further alleges that the same government had earlier placed nearly 20 lakh acres of land under the 22-A prohibited properties list, and is now taking credit for removing around 16 lakh acres from the list.
What Exactly Has Chandrababu Done New in the Land Resurvey?
The YSRCP claims that modern systems such as QR codes, geo-boundaries and LPM numbers were introduced during its tenure as part of the land resurvey programme.
The party says steps were initiated at the time to digitally record land boundaries in villages, modernise land records and provide landowners with clear and updated information about their properties.
The YSRCP alleges that the Coalition Government is now giving the same process a new publicity makeover and presenting it as though “we did it all.”
The party questions whether the situation amounts to one government doing the work while another government takes the credit.
Opposed the Resurvey Before Elections, But Claiming Credit for It Now?
The YSRCP has raised another major question over the Coalition Government’s approach to the land resurvey programme.
The party alleges that Coalition leaders had opposed the resurvey before the elections and promised to stop it, but after coming to power, the government continued the same process and began projecting its results as an achievement of the present administration.
Opposition then, self-praise now—is this the political ethics of the Coalition Government? the YSRCP asks.
The party says there is nothing wrong with continuing programmes that benefit the public. However, it objects to claiming credit for work that, according to the YSRCP, was initiated and implemented during the previous government.
Who Put 20 Lakh Acres Under the 22-A List?
The 22-A prohibited properties issue has also become a major point of political confrontation alongside the land resurvey debate.
According to the YSRCP, nearly 20 lakh acres across Andhra Pradesh were placed under the 22-A list during Chandrababu Naidu’s earlier government.
The party now alleges that the Coalition Government is boasting about removing around 16 lakh acres from the list.
The YSRCP questions the logic of creating a problem in the first place and then taking political credit for resolving a part of it.
For farmers, the party argues, what matters is not political publicity but clear ownership rights without complications in their land records.
Boasting About Removing 16 Lakh Acres But What About the Remaining Problems?
Although the government has been highlighting the removal of lakhs of acres from the 22-A list, the YSRCP asks whether all other land-related problems have actually been resolved.
Quoting numbers is one thing; providing an actual solution to farmers is another.
The party alleges that farmers continue to face difficulties relating to errors in land records, boundary disputes, registration issues and objections concerning 22-A lands.
The YSRCP says that instead of merely presenting figures on paper, the government should address the problems being faced by farmers at the ground level and ensure that their land-related grievances are resolved.
Zero Land Problems Resolved in Two Years, Yet Big Announcements?
The YSRCP has criticised the Coalition Government, alleging that even after completing two years in office, there has been no significant progress in resolving land-related problems.
The party alleges that despite the lack of substantial progress, the government is making ambitious claims that all land-related problems in the state will be resolved by March.
This has now become another major point of political debate.
According to the YSRCP, it is easy for the government to announce targets and deadlines, but the real test lies in resolving individual farmers’ problems within those deadlines and ensuring clear ownership rights over their land.
‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ Meetings Every Month But Are They Just Speeches?
The YSRCP has also criticised the government’s monthly ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ (Your Land–Your Right) meetings being conducted to highlight efforts to resolve land-related issues.
The party alleges that while these meetings feature major announcements, elaborate speeches and claims of government achievements, farmers continue to face problems at the field level.
The YSRCP questions when farmers will finally stop having to visit government offices repeatedly to secure their land rights.
It argues that simply saying “Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku” at public meetings is not enough. The real question is when farmers will be able to resolve their land problems without repeatedly running from one government office to another.
Farmers in PGRS Queues While Government Projects Victory Stories?
The YSRCP alleges that while the government conducts monthly meetings on land rights, farmers continue to stand in queues at PGRS grievance centres to resolve their land-related problems.
According to the party, farmers are still approaching government officials over issues involving land records, resurvey objections, 22-A properties and boundary disputes.
The YSRCP’s criticism can be summed up as:
“‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ in government meetings, but ‘Mee Complaint–Mee Queue’ at the ground level—is this the Coalition Government’s land administration?”
Is the Land Resurvey Being Turned Into a Political Publicity Exercise?
The YSRCP argues that the land resurvey programme should not be turned into a platform for political publicity.
According to the party, the government’s responsibility is to complete the process that was already initiated, correct errors, address farmers’ objections and maintain transparent land records.
The YSRCP alleges that the Chandrababu Naidu government is taking the work initiated during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, giving it a new presentation and projecting it as its own achievement.
“Isn’t claiming credit for work initiated during the Jagan government simply an attempt to appropriate the credit?” the party asks.
Not Political Publicity Farmers Need Their Problems Resolved
The YSRCP says that regardless of how many meetings are conducted, announcements are made or achievements are publicised, the real measure of the government’s performance is whether farmers are able to exercise their land rights without facing unnecessary difficulties.
If a farmer still has to visit government offices repeatedly to resolve issues concerning his or her land, the party asks, what is the purpose of the publicity campaign?
The YSRCP maintains that systems such as QR codes, geo-boundaries and LPM numbers were already introduced as part of the land resurvey process during its tenure.
At the same time, the party alleges that the government’s claims regarding 20 lakh acres being placed under 22-A, 16 lakh acres being removed from the list, and promises to resolve the remaining land problems within a fixed deadline are being used primarily as part of a political publicity campaign.
The real achievement is not beating the drums of publicity it is protecting a farmer’s legal rights over his land.
Speeches at public meetings are not enough; actual solutions on the ground should be the true measure of the government’s performance.
