Anganwadi workers and helpers across Andhra Pradesh have once again raised the banner of protest, questioning the government over the promises made to them in the election manifesto.
“Why were promises made that cannot be fulfilled? Why were they included in the manifesto?” the workers asked, demanding accountability from the government. They organized massive rallies, protests, and demonstrations at district collectorates across the state.
The Anganwadi workers alleged that even after completing two years in power, the government has failed to implement a single major promise made to them during the elections.
Election Promises Ignored? Anganwadi Workers Intensify Statewide Agitation
Anganwadi workers and helpers from all districts participated in large-scale protests at collectorate offices. Thousands of women took out rallies and raised slogans demanding the immediate implementation of election promises.
The protesters criticized the government, saying that forgetting promises after coming to power is against democratic principles.
“Making commitments before elections and ignoring them after gaining power amounts to betrayal,” they said.
Promise of ₹26,000 Minimum Salary Remains Unfulfilled
Anganwadi workers expressed strong anger over the government’s failure to implement its election promise of providing a minimum monthly salary of ₹26,000.
They said the government had clearly assured better wages during the election campaign, but even after two years in office, no action has been taken.
The workers alleged that making promises to secure votes and abandoning them later is unfair and amounts to cheating employees who have been serving the public.
Job Security, ESI, PF, Gratuity and Pension Promises Still Pending
The Anganwadi workers reminded the government of its promises to provide job security and social security benefits, including:
- Employee State Insurance (ESI)
- Provident Fund (PF)
- Gratuity benefits
- Pension facilities
They questioned why no progress has been made on these issues despite repeated appeals.
The workers said their demands have been continuously ignored and urged the government to take immediate steps to protect their livelihoods.
Allegations of Political Interference in Helper Promotions
Anganwadi workers also raised concerns over the promotion process of Anganwadi helpers.
They alleged that political interference has increased in promotions and that eligible candidates are being ignored due to favoritism.
The workers demanded transparency in the promotion system and urged the government to ensure justice for all eligible candidates.
Repeated Appeals Ignored by Government, Say Workers
The Anganwadi unions stated that they have submitted several representations to the government regarding their issues, but there has been no meaningful response.
They expressed disappointment that even after approaching officials and submitting repeated appeals, no concrete action has been taken to resolve their problems.
Two-Week Deadline Issued to Government
Anganwadi unions have given the government a two-week deadline to resolve their demands.
They warned that if their issues are not addressed within the stipulated period, they will intensify the agitation and organize larger protests, including further collectorate blockades across the state.
The unions urged the government to respond immediately and fulfill the commitments made in the election manifesto.
