Land Grab Allegations Trigger Fresh Political Controversy in Tirupati
A fresh land grab controversy has surfaced in Tirupati, creating a political storm in Andhra Pradesh. In a significant development, a woman who claims to be a long-time Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker has publicly accused senior party leaders of illegally occupying her family’s land. She alleged that despite approaching Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani and submitting five petitions to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, she has not received justice.
Allegations Against TDP In-charge JB Srinivas
Speaking to the media, Tirupati Vardhan Padmavathi, a resident of Annamayya Nagar in Tirupati, made serious allegations against Tirupati TDP in-charge JB Srinivas. She claimed that he illegally occupied a piece of land belonging to her family.
According to Padmavathi, her family purchased a one-and-a-half cent plot on Tirumala North Road in 2017 for ₹2.52 crore. She said they obtained a bank loan of ₹80 lakh and paid the remaining amount in cash to complete the transaction.
“We Paid the Full Amount Even Though Registration Was Pending”
Padmavathi stated that although the land registration had not been completed at the time of purchase, the seller had received the entire payment.
She alleged that JB Srinivas later targeted the property, created obstacles in getting the land registered in their name, and subsequently attempted to take control of the land.
“No Justice Despite Complaints to MLA Pulivarthi Nani”
The woman alleged that she repeatedly brought the issue to the attention of Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani but no action was taken.
She said she approached several party leaders and explained the dispute, but none of them responded or helped resolve the issue.
“Submitted Five Petitions to Chandrababu, But Received No Response”
Padmavathi claimed that she personally submitted five petitions to Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu seeking justice.
She expressed disappointment, saying that despite working for the party for decades, she had not received any support when she needed it most. She alleged that although the government changed, her land dispute remained unresolved and accused leaders in power of failing to protect her rights.
“I Worked for TDP for 40 Years”
The woman said she has dedicated nearly four decades to working for the TDP and actively participated in numerous party activities.
She questioned how ordinary citizens could expect justice if even a loyal party worker could not receive support. She added that losing the land has caused severe financial and emotional hardship for her family and vowed to continue her fight until justice is delivered.
Political Attention as TDP Worker Targets Own Party
The allegations have attracted considerable political attention because they come from a woman identifying herself as a long-time TDP worker. Her claims that senior party leaders failed to respond despite repeated representations have become a major talking point in Tirupati’s political circles.
TDP’s Response Still Awaited
The allegations are likely to put the ruling TDP under pressure. Padmavathi’s claims against Tirupati TDP in-charge JB Srinivas, her criticism of MLA Pulivarthi Nani, and her assertion that repeated appeals to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu went unanswered have intensified political debate.
