A tragic incident occurred during Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to A. Koduru in the Madugula constituency. Dadala Veerababu, a sanitation worker who had arrived from Payakaraopeta to perform duties related to the Chief Minister’s public meeting, reportedly collapsed and died unexpectedly.
Worker Collapses While on Duty
According to reports, Veerababu fell ill while carrying out sanitation duties at the meeting venue and subsequently died. The incident has raised questions over the arrangements made for workers deployed for the Chief Minister’s programme, particularly regarding medical assistance and emergency response.
Allegations of Officials Concealing the Incident
CITU leaders have alleged that officials did not allow news of Veerababu’s death to come out while the Chief Minister’s programme was still underway. They questioned why information about the death of a worker on duty was allegedly kept under wraps during the Chief Minister’s visit.
The trade union leaders further alleged that Veerababu’s body was shifted to the K. Kotapadu hospital only after the Chief Minister’s programme had concluded.
Questions Over Medical Assistance and Post-Mortem
CITU leaders have also raised questions over the medical treatment provided to Veerababu immediately after he fell ill. They sought clarity on whether he received timely medical assistance at the venue and what steps officials took immediately after the incident.
They further alleged that the post-mortem procedure was completed in haste and that officials attempted to shift the body to his native place soon afterwards. The allegations have intensified demands for a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death.
CITU Demands Comprehensive Inquiry
Workers’ organisations have demanded that the government respond immediately and conduct a comprehensive investigation. They want authorities to establish the circumstances that led to Veerababu’s death and explain the actions taken by officials following the incident.
CITU leaders said the facts should be placed before the public and that accountability should be fixed if any lapses are found in the arrangements or emergency response.
Rs 50 Lakh Compensation, Government Job for Wife Demanded
CITU has demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation for Veerababu’s family and a government job for his wife. The union said the government has a responsibility to support the family because Veerababu died while performing official duties at the Chief Minister’s programme.
CITU leader V.V. Srinivasa Rao said their protest would continue until justice was delivered to the bereaved family.
CITU Warns of Intensified Agitation
Srinivasa Rao warned that the agitation would be intensified if the government failed to immediately order a comprehensive inquiry into Veerababu’s death.
