Nomination Rejections, Forced Unopposed Wins: YSRCP Complains to SEC

YSRCP leaders have complained to the State Election Commission (SEC) over alleged irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh local body elections. They raised concerns about the rejection of nominations, alleged forced unopposed victories, violence, and the conduct of election officials.

YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu met the SEC and urged it to ensure a transparent and fair election process. They alleged that election rules were not being properly implemented at the ground level.

YSRCP Alleges Forced Unopposed Victories

After meeting the SEC, Lella Appi Reddy alleged that the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was resorting to forced unopposed victories in local body elections. He claimed that candidates were facing difficulties even when they approached the authorities through the appeal process.

According to Appi Reddy, election rules do not require certain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and No Dues Certificates in the situations cited by the party. However, he alleged that nominations were being rejected on these grounds.

He also claimed that some candidates faced rejection because they had not submitted details related to DWCRA loans or their wives’ assets.

YSRCP Questions the Conduct of Election Officials

Appi Reddy accused Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of acting in favour of the ruling party. He alleged that officials were not issuing receipts when candidates submitted B-forms.

He further claimed that YSRCP candidates and their family members were being targeted and subjected to pressure during the election process. The party urged the SEC to investigate these allegations and ensure that officials followed election rules without political bias.

YSRCP Raises Concerns Over Police Action and Chairperson Elections

Appi Reddy cited several incidents to support the party’s allegations. He claimed that police took Hanumayamma’s husband into custody late at night in Nakrekal. He also alleged that cases were registered against the son of Kokkilagadda Bhulakshmi, a ZPTC candidate from Nizampatnam in Repalle constituency.

The YSRCP leader further questioned the conduct of chairperson elections in Nagari and Rajampet. He alleged that a declaration of election was issued in Nagari before the withdrawal deadline had ended and claimed that rules were also violated during the chairperson election process in Rajampet.

He criticised the alleged irregularities despite Supreme Court directions and called for the SEC’s intervention.

TJR Sudhakar Babu Accuses TDP of Election Tactics

Former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu alleged that the TDP was resorting to political tactics because it feared defeat in the local body elections. He claimed that the party was concerned about the 2029 elections and was making preparations to counter opposition candidates in MPTC and ZPTC elections.

Sudhakar Babu also made political remarks about the future of the TDP, suggesting that the party could split by 2029. He said that a change in Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan’s political stance could affect the stability of the government. He also commented on the possible political impact of actor Jr NTR entering politics.

These statements reflect the YSRCP leaders’ political allegations and have not been independently verified.

YSRCP Seeks SEC Intervention

The YSRCP leaders have urged the State Election Commission to examine complaints concerning nomination rejections, alleged forced unopposed victories, and the conduct of election officials.

The party has called for greater transparency, impartiality, and strict implementation of election rules throughout the local body election process in Andhra Pradesh.

The next steps taken by the SEC in response to these complaints remain to be seen.
