Balireddy Pentayya, a Junior Technician at the Visakha Steel Plant, suffered severe injuries in a molten steel leakage accident on March 14, 2025. Despite undergoing treatment for weeks, he succumbed to his injuries on April 1.
Pentayya was the sole breadwinner of his family. His death not only left an emotional void but also pushed his family into uncertainty about their future.
Months later, his family says they are yet to receive adequate justice and support.
Safety Warnings Were Allegedly Ignored
Pentayya’s son, Prasad, has made serious allegations regarding the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
According to him, his father had repeatedly expressed concerns about safety issues within the steel plant before the accident took place. He claims that these warnings were brought to the attention of officials but were ignored.

The family eventually met Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Seven Hills Hospital in Visakhapatnam and explained the difficulties they had been facing.
After hearing their concerns, Jagan reportedly brought the issue before the media and assured the family of his support. He promised to stand by them in their efforts to secure justice, compensation, employment benefits, and other assistance due to them.
