Police Allegedly Misbehave with Women Farmers
Women farmers from Mamillapalli say that the police were very harsh on them during an incident. They have now filed complaints with national bodies in Delhi including the National Commission for Women the National Human Rights Commission and the National SC Commission.
The women farmers, led by Ponnur YSRCP in-charge Ambati Murali Krishna told these commissions about what happened. They want justice for what they call human rights abuses.
What the Farmers Say Happened
The women farmers say they stored maize because they couldn’t get a price for it in the market. They claim that some people acting on the instructions of TDP leaders attacked them.
They say the police didn’t protect them. Instead the police used force against the women. The farmers claim that they were dragged with ropes pushed to the ground and beaten. They also accuse the police of misbehaving and threatening them.
The women say they are very upset and cried while talking to the media.
Evidence Given to Commissions
The victims say they gave video evidence of the incident to the commissions. Officials say they will investigate and take action based on what they find.

A group including Rajya Sabha MP Golla Babu Rao, MP Dr. Tanuja Rani and Ambati Murali Krishna met officials of the National Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women and National SC Commission.

Ambati Murali Krishna demanded that cases against the women farmers be dropped immediately. He also called for action against the police involved.
He said the government failed to ensure prices, for maize farmers and urged immediate help.
The leaders claim they are acting on the directions of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while approaching commissions.
