Director SS Rajamouli and Superstar Mahesh Babu are teaming up for the highly ambitious global project ‘Varanasi’. The film is being made on a massive budget under the Durga Arts banner. Hollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is playing the female lead, while Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in a negative role.
Currently, Rajamouli is reportedly shooting the film at a rapid pace and is aiming to complete the remaining portions as per the planned schedule.

On the occasion of Mahesh Babu’s birthday, Rajamouli surprised fans by unveiling new posters featuring Mahesh Babu’s character ‘Rudra’ from Varanasi.
The posters are reportedly connected to the film’s Africa schedule. Sharing the posters on X, Rajamouli captioned them, “Fury is not the only thing that defines him.”

Mahesh Babu had already showcased the fierce side of his character Rudra in the previously released glimpse. However, the latest posters present him in a completely different and rugged avatar.
With long hair, a beard and moustache, Mahesh Babu appears in a raw, mass-packed look. His intense appearance and rugged styling have immediately caught the attention of fans, with many praising the actor’s transformation into Rudra.
Is Mahesh Babu Playing a Dual Role?
There has been considerable speculation that Mahesh Babu will be seen in a dual role in Varanasi, reportedly portraying both Rudra and Lord Rama.
Fans had been eagerly waiting for the makers to unveil Mahesh Babu’s look as Lord Rama on his birthday. However, Rajamouli chose to release posters featuring only the Rudra character, leaving fans curious about when the much-awaited Lord Rama look will be revealed.

Produced by Durga Arts on a grand scale, Varanasi is being made as a major Pan-India film with global ambitions. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on April 7 next year.
According to reports, Rajamouli is planning to complete the film’s shooting by October this year, following which the team will focus on post-production and other promotional activities.
With Mahesh Babu’s powerful Rudra avatar, Priyanka Chopra’s presence and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the antagonist, Varanasi has already generated massive expectations among audiences across India and beyond.
