Jagan Accuses Government of Misusing Police Machinery
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Andhra Pradesh government, alleging that law and order in the state has completely deteriorated. In a post on social media, Jagan accused the government of shielding ruling party leaders while registering false cases against opposition leaders and party workers.
He criticized the administration, stating that “lawlessness has reached its peak under the present regime,” and blamed the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for what he described as politically motivated actions.
Midnight Arrest of Alur MLA Draws Criticism
Jagan questioned the midnight arrest of Alur MLA Virupakshi, alleging that a large police force broke open the doors of the legislator’s residence before taking him into custody. He termed the police action undemocratic and accused the government of targeting opposition leaders through intimidation.
According to Jagan, filing attempt-to-murder cases against YSRCP leaders who were themselves attacked, and registering cases against public representatives who stood by the victims, reflects political vendetta rather than fair law enforcement.
Allegations Over Seizure of CCTV Hard Disks
Jagan also raised concerns over the police seizure of CCTV hard disks from the MLA’s residence. He alleged that the move was intended to suppress visual evidence of the police operation carried out during the midnight arrest.
He claimed that the removal of surveillance footage raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in the police action.
Other Arrests Cited as Examples of Political Harassment
The YSRCP chief further referred to the arrest of former minister Seediri Appalaraju in Srikakulam district and the kidnapping case registered against former Guntur MLA Shaik Mohammed Mustafa. He described both incidents as additional examples of what he called politically motivated harassment of opposition leaders.
Government Accused of Diverting Public Attention
Jagan alleged that the government is using arrests and criminal cases to divert public attention from key issues, including the alleged irregularities in DSC-2025 recruitment, pending dues under Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena schemes, and the unfulfilled promise of unemployment allowance.
He claimed that instead of addressing these public concerns, the government is resorting to arrests and legal action against opposition leaders.
“Power Is Not Permanent,” Says Jagan
Concluding his remarks, Jagan warned that political power and police support are not permanent.
“Power is not permanent. Police strength is not permanent. No matter how many cases are filed or how many arrests are made, the YSR Congress Party will not back down. We will continue to stand with the victims and question every injustice,” he said while strongly criticizing the Chandrababu Naidu government.
