Amaravati, Sep 22: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded an impartial CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment process.
Jagan responded to the protest organised by the YSRCP over the issue and expressed anger over the police action against party leaders, students and unemployed candidates who were heading to Vijayawada to participate in the demonstration. He alleged that protesters were stopped, subjected to lathi-charge and arrested.
Jagan Questions Government Over CBI Probe
The state government and Education Minister Nara Lokesh have maintained that the DSC recruitment process was conducted transparently. Against this backdrop, Jagan questioned why the government was reluctant to order a CBI investigation if it was confident that no irregularities had taken place.
He said that when doubts arise over the transparency of teacher recruitment, which directly affects the future of lakhs of candidates, it is the government’s responsibility to address those concerns and restore confidence among aspirants.
Police Action Against Protesters Criticised
Jagan criticised the use of police barricades, lathi-charge and arrests to prevent YSRCP leaders, students and unemployed candidates from participating in the protest.
He said that preventing demonstrations or allowing protests to be conducted only at alternative locations would not help restore the confidence that had been lost among unemployed candidates.
Demand for Lokesh’s Resignation
Jagan reiterated his demand for a CBI probe into the DSC recruitment process and called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, holding him responsible for the issue.
He said the YSRCP would continue its fight until justice was delivered to DSC candidates.
