Jagan Slams Coalition Government’s Performance
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a strong attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government during a meeting with YSRCP leaders and party workers. As the coalition government entered its third year in office, Jagan claimed that public opposition to the government was already becoming evident.
He said people were comparing the performance of the present government with the five-year tenure of the previous YSRCP government and assessing both administrations based on their delivery and welfare programmes.
99% of Manifesto Promises Implemented, Jagan Claims
Jagan claimed that his government had fulfilled 99% of the promises made in its manifesto. He said ₹2.73 lakh crore had been directly transferred into people’s bank accounts through various Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) welfare schemes.
He highlighted several initiatives introduced during the YSRCP government, including Village Secretariats, the volunteer system, Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), Nadu-Nedu, expansion of Aarogyasri, Village Clinics and the Family Doctor system. According to Jagan, these programmes were designed to deliver government services without discrimination or corruption.
Law and Order Has Deteriorated, Says Jagan
Jagan alleged that the law-and-order situation in Andhra Pradesh had deteriorated under the present government. He claimed that cases and arrests against people questioning the government had increased.
He referred to incidents involving medical student Priyanka in Rajamahendravaram, a case registered against Dr. Appalaraju in Srikakulam district and a ganja-related incident in Addanki while questioning the functioning of the police.
Allegations Over Liquor, Sand and Soil Mafias
Jagan also alleged that liquor, sand and soil mafias had expanded in the state. He accused the government of attempting to sell public assets in the name of privatisation.
He criticised the decision to bring services such as hospitals, drinking water, APSRTC and sanitation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He also made serious allegations regarding construction costs in Amaravati.
Government Ignoring Farmers’ Problems, Jagan Alleges
Jagan alleged that the government was failing to address the problems faced by farmers. He referred to drought-like conditions, lack of remunerative prices, free crop insurance, input subsidies, RBKs and e-Crop.
He also criticised the government over irrigation in Rayalaseema, stating that despite adequate water levels in the Srisailam Reservoir, the government had failed to provide sufficient irrigation water to the region.
Fee Reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena Payments Delayed
Jagan claimed that students were not receiving Fee Reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena funds on time. He also alleged that the government had stepped back from supporting women’s self-help groups and implementing zero-interest loan schemes.
According to Jagan, the decline in student enrolment in government schools was another indication of the government’s failure in the education sector.
Jagan Highlights YSRCP’s Education Reforms
Jagan said his government had introduced several reforms in education, including English-medium instruction, bilingual textbooks, digital classrooms, tablets, the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and the Nadu-Nedu programme.
He said these measures were aimed at improving the quality of government education and providing better facilities and learning opportunities to students.
Focus on Healthcare Reforms
Highlighting the YSRCP government’s healthcare initiatives, Jagan referred to the expansion of the Aarogyasri scheme, the establishment of 17 government medical colleges, Village Clinics and the Family Doctor system.
He claimed that these initiatives had strengthened healthcare delivery, particularly at the village level.
Jagan Calls on Party Cadre to Prepare for Local Elections
Jagan urged YSRCP leaders and workers to remain alert ahead of the upcoming local body elections. He called on the party cadre to fight for free and fair elections and assured them that the party would stand by workers facing pressure.
He said political developments would reach a crucial stage within the next year and asked party workers to remain united and work towards strengthening the organisation.
People Will Compare Both Governments, Says Jagan
Jagan called for a wide-ranging discussion at the village level on the promises made by the Chandrababu Naidu government and the problems currently faced by people.
He said people were comparing the five-year YSRCP administration with the performance of the present government and expressed confidence that the public verdict would eventually favour the YSRCP.
