Dissatisfaction with Alliance Government Becomes a Political Talking Point
Discussions are gaining momentum in Andhra Pradesh political circles over the reported dissatisfaction among sections of the Kapu community with the alliance government. Critics allege that several promises made to the community during the elections have not been fulfilled. Concerns are also being raised over inadequate political representation and limited opportunities in nominated posts.
Amid these developments, the decision of several Kapu leaders to join the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has attracted significant political attention.
Kapu JAC President Alleges Community Was Ignored
Kapu JAC State President Chandu Janardhan alleged that the Kapu community was mobilized during the elections but ignored after the alliance came to power.
Former TDP leader Gudapati Srinivasa Rao (GS), who recently joined YSRCP, claimed that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has neglected the broader Kapu community because Pawan Kalyan is already part of the alliance. According to him, importance is being given only to Pawan Kalyan while other Kapu leaders are being sidelined.
Jana Sena Leader Voices Concern Over Internal Issues
Jana Sena leader Dasari Ramu also expressed dissatisfaction over issues such as power-sharing, ticket allocation, and the party’s approach toward Kapu-related concerns.
He alleged that anyone speaking about the community’s issues is being branded a “YSRCP covert” and subjected to abuse on social media. He further stated that leaders who worked hard for Jana Sena have been neglected after the alliance came to power, adding that Pawan Kalyan’s approach has disappointed many members of the Kapu community.
Bonda Uma’s Presence at Mudragada Memorial Sparks Debate
Another issue that has triggered discussion within the Kapu community is the explanation reportedly sought by the TDP from MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao after he attended a memorial meeting for late Kapu movement leader Mudragada Padmanabham, where he shared the stage with YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu.
Several Kapu organizations questioned whether seeking an explanation for attending a tribute event to a community leader was justified.
Custodial Death Victim’s Mother Expresses Anguish
Vijayalakshmi, the mother of Gade Sai Krishna, who died in an alleged custodial death, expressed emotional distress, saying that her family has always been supporters of Pawan Kalyan but still did not receive justice.
She also said she was deeply hurt by the repeated references to her son as a “criminal.”
Gudapati Srinivasa Rao Joins YSRCP
Prominent Kapu leader from Repalle and a close associate of Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, Gudapati Srinivasa Rao, resigned from the TDP and joined YSRCP in the presence of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He alleged that self-respect was being undermined under the alliance government and accused it of following authoritarian policies. He asserted that the Kapu community has stronger leadership within YSRCP, naming leaders such as Botsa Satyanarayana, Perni Nani, Ambati Rambabu, Gudivada Amarnath, and Kurasala Kannababu as those standing with the community.
KRPS Chairman Writes Open Letter to Pawan Kalyan
Chanamalla Prasada Rao, State Chairman of the Kapu Reservation Struggle Committee (KRPS), addressed an open letter to Pawan Kalyan criticizing the alliance government’s approach.
He questioned why Pawan Kalyan has remained silent on issues such as implementation of promises made to Kapus, reservations, and social justice.
In a strongly worded remark, he asked:
“The Kapu community accepted your family as its own. Has your family accepted the Kapu community in return?”
More Political Shifts Expected?
Gudapati Srinivasa Rao further alleged that Kapu leaders within the TDP no longer enjoy the freedom to express themselves and that their self-respect has been compromised.
He claimed that although many leaders are currently maintaining silence because the alliance is in power, more Kapu leaders may join the YSRCP in the coming days.
Political observers believe these developments could pose fresh political challenges for the ruling alliance, particularly if dissatisfaction within sections of the Kapu community continues to grow.
