NEET Row in Delhi Fuels Political Heat in Andhra Pradesh
The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following criticism over the conduct of the NEET examinations and widespread student protests in New Delhi has triggered a nationwide political debate. The development has also intensified discussions in Andhra Pradesh, where allegations surrounding the DSC teacher recruitment process continue to generate controversy.
YSRCP Demands Nara Lokesh’s Resignation
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has reiterated its demand that Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh resign over the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process. The party has questioned why Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh have not responded to the allegations and has called for a comprehensive and independent investigation into the matter.
According to YSRCP, Lokesh should step down on moral grounds and cooperate with any inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
Allegations of Recruitment Irregularities
YSRCP alleges that despite videos allegedly showing negotiations for teacher posts becoming public, the government diluted the investigation by registering only nominal cases. The party has demanded that the government disclose all facts related to the recruitment process and warned that it will continue public protests until the truth comes out.
The opposition has also claimed that several individuals were appointed as teachers without appearing for the DSC examination, without possessing the required educational qualifications, or without meeting the prescribed sports quota eligibility.
Sports Quota and GO Controversy
The party alleges that candidates who merely participated in district, college, or university-level sports events were issued sports certificates through associations and subsequently secured teaching jobs.
YSRCP further claims that the government introduced GO No. 4 and GO No. 47 during the recruitment process and later revoked them after appointments were completed, replacing them with new government orders. The party has questioned the transparency and legality of these decisions.
Demand for CBI Investigation
YSRCP has already demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged DSC recruitment irregularities. The party has assured affected candidates that it will continue to support them and stated that if the government fails to respond, it would establish a commission after coming to power to investigate the issue and ensure justice for the alleged victims.
Political Pressure Mounts After Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation
The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan has added a new political dimension to the Andhra Pradesh controversy. YSRCP leaders argue that if moral responsibility was accepted at the Union level following the NEET controversy, the same standard should apply in Andhra Pradesh regarding the DSC recruitment allegations.
