The protest by YSRCP MLCs in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council over alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process intensified on Thursday. The MLCs demanded a comprehensive discussion on the issue and called for a CBI investigation into the allegations.
Even after the Legislative Council was adjourned, the YSRCP MLCs continued their protest. They reached the podium and raised slogans before later sitting on the floor of the Council in protest.
YSRCP MLCs Demand CBI Probe
MLC Ramachandra Reddy criticised the government for allegedly refusing to respond to repeated demands for a discussion on the DSC issue. He questioned why the government was reluctant to face an investigation if there had been no wrongdoing.
He demanded clarity from the government on several issues, including the sports quota, TET exemptions and the suspension of teachers. He also called for the immediate withdrawal of the suspension orders against the teachers and demanded a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process.
Allegations Over Sports Quota and GO Changes
MLC Madhusudhan alleged that there were several doubts surrounding the increase in the percentage of the sports quota and the issuance of different Government Orders (GOs) before and after the DSC recruitment process.
He alleged that irregularities were committed by using the GOs as a basis and claimed that allegations had surfaced regarding large-scale monetary dealings in exchange for jobs. He questioned why the government was hesitant to order an inquiry into such allegations.
Isaac Basha Calls for Investigation
MLC Isaac Basha also demanded an investigation into the DSC recruitment issue. He alleged that the government’s reluctance to order an inquiry was strengthening doubts surrounding the recruitment process.
The YSRCP MLCs maintained that a transparent investigation was necessary to establish the facts and address the concerns raised by candidates and others associated with the recruitment process.
YSRCP MLCs Stage Protest With Black Scarves
Earlier, YSRCP MLCs wore black scarves and marched towards the Legislative Council as a mark of protest. Carrying placards and raising slogans such as “Not Mega DSC, It is Fraud DSC,” they demanded an immediate CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.
The MLCs also demanded that Education Minister Nara Lokesh take responsibility for the allegations and resign from his post.
The YSRCP MLCs reiterated that the government should order an independent investigation into the DSC recruitment controversy and provide clarity on the allegations surrounding the process.
