Birthday celebrations of Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan in several parts of Andhra Pradesh have come under severe criticism, with concerns being raised over the conduct of party workers and fans.
Pawan Kalyan Cutout at Vinayaka Temple Sparks Controversy
In Nellore district, Jana Sena activists reportedly organised birthday celebrations for Pawan Kalyan at a Lord Vinayaka temple. A large cutout of Pawan Kalyan was installed near the temple, where party workers garlanded it, performed aarti and even broke coconuts as part of the celebrations.
Several devotees and locals objected to the incident, alleging that such activities at a temple could hurt religious sentiments. Critics questioned whether conducting such celebrations inside or near a place of worship was appropriate.
They also questioned why Pawan Kalyan, who frequently speaks about the protection of Sanatana Dharma and Hindu sentiments, has not responded to the conduct of his fans and party workers.
Bus Stopped on Road in Tadepalligudem
Meanwhile, another incident in Tadepalligudem also triggered criticism. Jana Sena workers reportedly stopped a bus in the middle of the road, causing inconvenience to passengers and other road users.
The celebrations allegedly included bike stunts, dancing on an APSRTC bus and displaying party flags on the road. The scenes attracted criticism, with questions being raised over whether political celebrations should be allowed to disrupt public transportation and traffic.
Tragedy During Flexi Installation in Amalapuram
A tragic incident occurred in Amalapuram while a large birthday flexi banner for Pawan Kalyan was being installed.
The metal frame of the banner reportedly came into contact with high-tension electricity wires, resulting in the electrocution of Rolla Prem Kumar, a resident of Bendamurulanka. He died on the spot.
Prem Kumar was reportedly working in Hyderabad and had returned to his native village specifically to participate in celebrations for his favourite leader’s birthday. His sudden death has left the local community in deep grief.
Road Blockades and Celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada
Similar celebrations were also reported in cities including Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Large cake-cutting events, dancing, fireworks and gatherings involving multiple vehicles reportedly obstructed roads in some areas.
Videos and posts related to such celebrations have also attracted criticism on social media. Many questioned whether expressing admiration for a political leader justifies causing inconvenience to ordinary citizens, commuters and motorists.
Calls for Discipline Among Jana Sena Workers
Political analysts have stressed the need for discipline and a sense of public service among party workers.
They pointed out that celebrations by fans and party supporters should not cross the line into activities that inconvenience the public or create safety risks. If such displays of enthusiasm continue to cause disruption, they could have a negative impact on the image of the party.
There is also growing discussion that if Pawan Kalyan fails to take steps to control such incidents, repeated controversies involving his supporters could lead to public resentment and damage the reputation of the Jana Sena Party.
