Amaravati, Sep 23: The Andhra Pradesh State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has condemned the lathi charge on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) activists and unemployed youth who staged a protest over alleged irregularities in DSC Sports Quota recruitments.
Right to Protest Must Be Respected
CPI(M) State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao said that political parties, associations and organisations have a fundamental democratic right to bring their concerns and problems to the notice of the government.
He said denying this right and using force against those who raise public issues was undemocratic. The government, he said, should respect the right of political parties and organisations to express their concerns through peaceful protests.
Demand for Judicial Inquiry
Srinivasa Rao called on the government to conduct a judicial inquiry into the allegations surrounding DSC Sports Quota recruitments instead of responding to the allegations with challenges or confrontational statements.
He said an impartial inquiry would help establish the facts and bring clarity to the allegations being raised over the recruitment process.
Government Urged to Avoid Political Confrontation
The CPI(M) state secretary also cautioned against bringing teachers into the political arena for partisan purposes.
He said involving teachers in political confrontations could further complicate the issue and create tensions between different groups. He urged the government to avoid such measures and take steps to resolve the issue through a proper inquiry and dialogue.
The CPI(M) state committee reiterated that the concerns raised by unemployed candidates and political organisations should be addressed through democratic and legal mechanisms rather than through force.
