Tensions Escalate After Alleged Attack on YSRCP Worker
A political confrontation in Sangala village of Chippagiri mandal, Kurnool district, has intensified after allegations that supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) attacked the house of YSRCP worker Giri. Following the incident, Alur YSRCP MLA Virupakshi visited Nemakallu village to meet the injured party. During the visit, tensions flared again, and YSRCP leaders claimed that several party workers, including the MLA’s brother Sriramulu, sustained injuries.
Protest Outside Chippagiri Police Station
Demanding action against those responsible for the alleged attack, MLA Virupakshi staged a protest outside the Chippagiri Police Station. Later that night, YSRCP alleged that police reached the MLA’s residence, forcibly broke open the doors, and took Virupakshi and his son Chandrasekhar into custody. The party described the police action as an act of political vendetta, alleging that cases were filed against the MLA despite his visit being aimed at supporting the victims.
Police Allegations Against the MLA
According to the case submitted by the police before the court, MLA Virupakshi and his brother allegedly assaulted a Scheduled Caste woman and tore her clothes during the incident. These allegations have become a major point of contention in the ongoing political dispute.
Viral Video Raises Fresh Questions
The controversy took a new turn after a video surfaced on social media. According to YSRCP leaders, the video allegedly shows TDP worker Nagaraju tearing his wife’s clothes himself before accusing the MLA of the assault. They further claim that the video appears to show Nagaraju instructing his wife to make allegations against Virupakshi.
Based on these claims, YSRCP leaders argue that the criminal case against the MLA may have been fabricated and are demanding a fair investigation into the authenticity and circumstances surrounding the video.
YSRCP Criticizes Media Coverage
YSRCP has also criticized certain media organizations, alleging that they reported the incident by portraying the MLA as the attacker without considering the contents of the viral video. The party claims that selective reporting has misrepresented the sequence of events and influenced public perception.
Demands for an Impartial Investigation
The party further alleges that although the incident occurred in the presence of police personnel, cases were registered solely based on complaints filed by TDP leaders. YSRCP leaders maintain that the law should apply equally to everyone and have demanded that authorities conduct an impartial investigation and take action against those found genuinely responsible after all evidence is examined.
