Botsa Writes to Governor Abdul Nazeer
Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Opposition Leader Botsa Satyanarayana has written a letter to Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer, requesting that the first convocation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Gurajada Vizianagaram (JNTU-GV), scheduled for July 11, be held in Vizianagaram instead of Visakhapatnam.
While expressing gratitude to the Governor for inviting him to the convocation, Botsa emphasized that the event should be conducted in Vizianagaram, keeping in mind the original purpose behind the establishment of the university.
University Established for Vizianagaram’s Development
Botsa recalled that JNTU-GV was established with the objective of promoting the educational and overall development of the backward Vizianagaram district. Since the university is completing three years of its establishment, he said it would be most appropriate and meaningful to organize the inaugural convocation in the district where the university was founded.
He stated that holding the ceremony in Vizianagaram would be a matter of pride and respect for both the students and the local people.
No Need to Conduct Convocation in Visakhapatnam
The YSRCP leader pointed out that the Vizianagaram campus is expected to become fully operational within the next two months, making it unnecessary to organize the convocation in Visakhapatnam.
According to Botsa, conducting the university’s first convocation outside its home district has caused disappointment among the people of Vizianagaram.
Decision Hurts Sentiments of District Residents
Botsa expressed concern that the decision to hold the convocation in Visakhapatnam has hurt the sentiments and self-respect of the people of Vizianagaram district.
He urged the Governor to take into consideration the emotions of the local residents and ensure that the first JNTU-GV convocation is conducted in Vizianagaram.
Appeal for a Positive Decision
In his letter, Botsa Satyanarayana appealed to Governor Justice Abdul Nazeer to positively consider the request and take appropriate steps to shift the venue of the first JNTU-GV convocation from Visakhapatnam to Vizianagaram in the interest of students and the people of the district.
