AP Government Expands Liquor Sales to Airports

New Guidelines for Airport Bars and Wine Shops
The state government has come up with rules for wine shops and bars at airports. They want to make a lot of money by taxing and licensing liquor sales.
Here are the new rules:
- If you want to open a bar at an airport you have to pay ₹5 lakh.
- If you want to open a wine shop at an airport you have to pay ₹2 lakh.
- Every wine shop at an airport has to pay ₹1 crore in Excise Tax.
- Big airports with passengers have to pay ₹25 lakh in Excise Tax for bars.
- Smaller airports have to pay ₹15 lakh in Excise Tax for bars.
Criticism Over Expanding Liquor Availability
People are unhappy about the governments liquor policy. They think private operators already have much control over wine shops. They also think that permit rooms have made liquor easily available in towns and cities.
There are also problems with belt shops in rural areas. The government recently allowed liquor sales at Beach Shacks, which has made things worse. Now they are allowing liquor outlets at airports, which is making people more unhappy.
Tirupati Exempted, Other Airports to Operate Round-the-Clock
The government has said that Tirupati Airport is exempt because of the citys importance.. All other airports in Andhra Pradesh can sell liquor all the time.
