Junior Doctors Demand Immediate Decision on Stipend Hike
Junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh have sounded the strike alarm over their long-pending demand for a hike in stipends. The Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (AP JUDA) has urged the state government to take an immediate decision on the issue. The association warned that if the government fails to provide a clear response by August 15, the agitation will be intensified from August 17.
Black Badges Until August 15
As part of their protest, junior doctors have decided to attend their duties wearing black badges until August 15. They said the move is intended to highlight their long-pending and legitimate demands concerning resident doctors.
AP JUDA has specifically demanded a clear decision from the government on the increase in stipends and expressed hope that the authorities would respond positively to their concerns.
Emergency Services Boycott Announced
The junior doctors have also announced that they will boycott emergency medical services from 9 AM to 4 PM as part of the strike. The association said the move is part of its planned agitation if the government fails to address their demands.
At the same time, AP JUDA stated that steps would be taken to ensure that regular healthcare services are not severely disrupted and that priority would be given to emergency medical care to minimize inconvenience to patients.
DRP and Peripheral Postings to Be Suspended
AP JUDA announced that DRP and peripheral postings would be suspended during the strike period. The association maintained that the decision is part of its protest over the unresolved issues faced by resident doctors.
The junior doctors said they would continue to take measures to prevent unnecessary disruption to healthcare services while pursuing their demands.
Ready for Talks With the Government
The junior doctors have made it clear that they are ready for meaningful discussions with the government at any time before the August 15 deadline if they receive an invitation for talks.
