Narasaraopet: Allegations of alleged misuse of government funds through fake bills under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and Letters of Credit (LOCs) have triggered a political controversy in Narasaraopet. The allegations concern Amulya Nursing Home, reportedly associated with Narasaraopet TDP MLA Dr. Chadalavada Aravind Babu.
Alleged Fake Bills Under CMRF and LOCs
According to the allegations, hundreds of bills were allegedly submitted under the CMRF and LOC schemes even though the patients concerned had reportedly not received the claimed treatments.
The allegations have raised questions over the manner in which government funds were allegedly claimed through the hospital. Following the complaints, it is reportedly understood that CMRF and LOC services were suspended for the hospital and that the hospital was placed on a blacklist.
However, the allegations are yet to be conclusively established through an official investigation.
Former MLA Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy Makes Serious Allegations
Former MLA Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy has alleged that corruption to the tune of approximately Rs. 100 crore took place in the matter. He demanded a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities and called for criminal action if wrongdoing is established.
Gopireddy also alleged that procedures already performed under the Aarogyasri scheme were subsequently shown under the CMRF in order to allegedly obtain additional government funds.
Demand for a Statewide Probe
The former MLA has demanded a comprehensive investigation into CMRF and LOC transactions not only at Amulya Nursing Home but across the state.
He called for scrutiny of bills submitted under the schemes, the treatments claimed against them, and the payments released by the government. He also demanded that the role of everyone involved in the alleged irregularities be examined.
MLA’s Role Under Scrutiny
The allegations have also brought the role of MLA Dr. Chadalavada Aravind Babu under political scrutiny. Gopireddy has demanded that investigators examine the involvement, if any, of the MLA, personal assistants, doctors and other hospital staff.
The controversy comes after the MLA had previously faced political criticism in connection with a police-related issue. The latest allegations concerning a hospital reportedly associated with him could add another political challenge.
Investigation Likely to Determine Facts
The allegations surrounding Amulya Nursing Home, CMRF and LOC claims are now expected to come under greater scrutiny. A detailed investigation would need to establish whether the bills corresponded to actual treatments, whether any procedures were claimed under multiple government schemes, and whether government funds were released on the basis of incorrect or fraudulent documentation.
The facts and responsibility of individuals involved will ultimately depend on the findings of an official investigation.
