Discontent within the Jana Sena Party is reportedly growing over seat allocation in the ruling alliance in Andhra Pradesh. The latest controversy has emerged in Tiruvuru Municipality, where differences have surfaced over the chairperson candidate.
As part of the alliance seat-sharing arrangement, the chairperson post in Tiruvuru Municipality was reportedly allocated to Jana Sena leader Pasupuleti Madhavi. However, reports suggest that TDP MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao is backing Penuballi Sravani, a TDP leader from his faction, for the same post.
The controversy intensified after Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao posted on social media, asking people to attend Sravani’s nomination rally scheduled for the following day. His post has raised questions about whether a TDP candidate is being encouraged to contest for a post reportedly allocated to Jana Sena under the alliance agreement.
Jana Sena Workers Unhappy Over Seat Sharing
The Tiruvuru controversy comes amid growing discontent among Jana Sena workers over municipal seat allocation in Andhra Pradesh. Party supporters have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over allegations that TDP leaders are being given preference in several local bodies.
Similar concerns have surfaced in Puttur, Tuni, Darsi and Salur, where Jana Sena aspirants are reportedly unhappy with the preference given to leaders who joined the TDP. The latest developments in Tiruvuru have added to these concerns.
There are also speculations that a similar situation could emerge in Rajam, raising further questions about the implementation of the alliance’s seat-sharing formula.
Jana Sena Aspirants Raise Concerns Over Municipal Posts
Although Jana Sena has reportedly received representation in 21 municipalities and nagar panchayats under the alliance arrangement, some local party aspirants reportedly feel that TDP leaders are getting opportunities in several positions.
The situation has raised concerns among Jana Sena workers about whether the agreed seat-sharing arrangement is being followed at the local level. The Tiruvuru dispute has once again highlighted the challenges facing the TDP-Jana Sena alliance during the ongoing local body election process.
Meanwhile, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has not publicly responded to the latest controversy, according to the available account. His response, if any, could be significant in addressing concerns among party workers and local aspirants.
The developments in Tiruvuru have brought renewed attention to seat-sharing differences within the ruling alliance in Andhra Pradesh, particularly as parties prepare for municipal elections.
