Perni Nani Criticises Coalition Government Over Liquor Case, DSC Recruitment and Governance

Former Andhra Pradesh minister Perni Nani launched a sharp attack on the coalition government, alleging that the Chandrababu Naidu-led government is resorting to “diversion politics” to shift public attention away from its unfulfilled promises and governance failures.

Perni Nani Alleges Diversion Politics

Perni Nani alleged that drought-like conditions are prevailing in several parts of the state and claimed that whenever the government’s failures come to the fore, the liquor case is brought into the spotlight to divert public attention.

He criticised the government over what he described as a failure to fulfil the promises made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

‘SIT Probe Into Liquor Case Turning Into a TV Serial’

Commenting on the liquor case, Perni Nani said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe was progressing like a “TV serial”. He questioned the changing figures being cited in connection with the alleged irregularities.

According to Perni Nani, Chandrababu Naidu had earlier alleged that corruption worth Rs 33,000 crore had taken place. He claimed that the figure was later mentioned as Rs 18,000 crore in a white paper, while the SIT was now referring to an alleged Rs 3,000-crore issue.

He said the investigation appeared to be a case of “digging a mountain and catching a mouse”. Perni Nani also questioned why Satyaprasad, who he claimed was the third accused in the case, had not been arrested.

Tirumala Laddu Controversy

Perni Nani also referred to the controversy surrounding Tirumala Srivari Laddu Prasadam. He alleged that claims were previously made that animal fat had been mixed with the ghee used in the preparation of the laddus.

He said the Enforcement Directorate had stated that animal fat was not mixed with the ghee used in the preparation of the Tirumala laddus.

Questions Over DSC Recruitment

Perni Nani also raised allegations regarding irregularities in DSC teacher recruitment. He questioned how some candidates who appeared for examinations under the BC-D category in 2018 were able to shift to the Open Category (OC) in 2025.

He alleged that certificates were being issued in an arbitrary manner and warned that officials involved in issuing such certificates could face problems in the future.

Questions Raised Over Saikrishna Lockup Death

Perni Nani also questioned the government and the police department over the Saikrishna lockup death case. He alleged that the SIT was attempting to weaken the case and criticised the conduct of some police personnel under the Chandrababu Naidu government.

He claimed that the functioning of certain police officials had deteriorated and demanded answers from the government over the handling of the case.

Perni Nani Raises Questions Over Liquor Policy

Perni Nani claimed that during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, not a single liquor brand or distillery was given permission.

He further alleged that TDP MLAs are currently involved in running liquor shops and questioned the government’s handling of liquor-related affairs.

Questions Over Bandar Port

Perni Nani also raised several allegations regarding the steps being taken by the government in connection with the Bandar Port. He demanded that the government provide clarity on the decisions and actions being taken in the matter.

Government Asked to Respond

Perni Nani demanded answers from the coalition government on the liquor case, DSC recruitment, police-related issues and the Bandar Port. He alleged that the government was using diversion tactics instead of addressing issues concerning the people and fulfilling its electoral promises.
