YSRCP MP Moves Adjournment Motion in Lok Sabha Over Custodial Deaths and Law & Order in Andhra Pradesh

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Tirupati MP Dr. Maddila Gurumoorthy has moved an Adjournment Motion in the Lok Sabha, highlighting the increasing incidents of police custodial deaths, lockup deaths, and the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh. He urged the Centre to allow an immediate discussion on the issue, making it a matter of national concern.

Serious Concerns Over Police Custody Deaths

The MP stated that several individuals have died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody across different parts of the state. He expressed concern that institutions responsible for protecting citizens are instead becoming a threat to public safety.

In his notice, Dr. Gurumoorthy said that when those entrusted with enforcing the law themselves violate it, public confidence in the justice system is severely affected. He warned that such incidents send dangerous signals for democracy and create fear among citizens.

Allegations of Failing Law and Order

Apart from custodial deaths, the YSRCP MP alleged that the overall law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh has deteriorated significantly. He claimed that incidents of political vendetta, attacks on ordinary citizens, and rising violence have become increasingly common.

He urged the Central Government to take immediate notice of the situation and initiate appropriate action.

Demand for Immediate Parliamentary Discussion

Dr. Gurumoorthy explained that the Adjournment Motion was submitted under Lok Sabha rules, which allow Parliament to suspend regular business and hold discussions on matters of urgent public importance.

He stressed that the issue deserves immediate attention as it concerns the protection of fundamental rights and public safety.

Justice for Victims, Accountability for Officials

The MP reaffirmed that the YSR Congress Party would continue its fight until justice is delivered to the victims and their families. He demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government accept responsibility for the alleged failures and take strict action against officials found responsible.

He also expressed hope that if the matter is discussed in Parliament, the incidents taking place in Andhra Pradesh will receive nationwide attention and prompt necessary action.
