SVIMS Announces Recruitment for 303 Government Posts
The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), functioning under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), has issued three separate recruitment notifications to fill 303 government vacancies. The recruitment includes posts such as Junior Assistant, Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Biomedical Engineer, Clinical Psychologist, Receptionist, Electrician, and several other positions.
According to SVIMS, eligible and interested candidates can submit their online applications through the official website from July 15, 2026, to August 10, 2026, until 11:59 PM.
Bhumana Karunakar Reddy Calls Recruitment “Another DSC Scam”
However, the recruitment process has triggered a major political controversy after former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy leveled serious allegations against the selection process.
Describing the recruitment of 303 posts as “another DSC scam,” Bhumana alleged that the entire recruitment process was manipulated in violation of established rules to benefit selected individuals. He demanded a comprehensive investigation by an independent agency and strict action against those found responsible.
Allegations of Unauthorized Changes in Eligibility Criteria
Speaking to the media, Bhumana claimed that educational qualifications and experience criteria were altered without obtaining approval from either the SVIMS Board or the Andhra Pradesh Government.
He further alleged that:
- The syllabus was prepared without constituting an expert committee.
- The recruitment notification was designed to favor pre-selected candidates.
- Bias was allegedly exercised even in the preparation of question papers.
Claims of Political Influence in Recruitment
Bhumana also alleged that Adiseshaiah, a close relative of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, played a key role in the recruitment process.
According to him, the SVIMS Vice-Chancellor and Director were sidelined, and a recruitment committee was instead constituted under the BIRD Director. He further recalled allegations of corruption in the recruitment of 100 doctors in the past, claiming similar doubts now surround the recruitment of 303 posts.
Salary Revisions and Selection Process Questioned
The former TTD Chairman alleged that salary structures for certain posts were modified without obtaining board approval, solely to facilitate appointments of selected candidates.
He criticized the authorities for not conducting the examinations through APPSC or any independent recruitment agency, and claimed that reputed institutions such as AIIMS and Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences were also excluded from the recruitment process.
For technical positions, he alleged that experts from national institutions like IITs and IIITs were not consulted while framing the recruitment procedure.
Interview-Based Selection Allegedly Undermines Merit
Bhumana further alleged that even after candidates clear the written examination, final selection would be based on interviews, which, according to him, weakens the principle of merit-based recruitment.
He claimed that this system provides room for arbitrary selections and alleged that engineering recruitments were also marred by large-scale irregularities.
Engineering Recruitment Irregularities Alleged
Referring to engineering recruitments conducted in May, Bhumana stated that although around 34,000 candidates applied for 60 engineering posts, authorities announced examinations at only two centers, allowing only about 18,000 candidates to appear.
He alleged that there were widespread discussions claiming each post was sold for around ₹30 lakh. He also criticized the authorities for using the 2023 recruitment notification as the benchmark, allegedly disadvantaging candidates from 2024 and 2025.
Serious Allegations Over Veda Parayanam Appointments
Bhumana also raised concerns over the recruitment of 700 Veda Parayanam posts, alleging reports that each post was sold for approximately ₹15 lakh.
He questioned why the recruitment results have not yet been announced and warned that appointing individuals lacking proper knowledge of the Vedas would damage the reputation of TTD.
TTD’s Reputation Must Be Protected, Says Bhumana
He emphasized that employment in TTD has traditionally been regarded as a form of service, and stressed that this tradition must be preserved.
Bhumana also remarked that the silence of officials regarding the allegations has only deepened public suspicion.
Additionally, he criticized the alleged disrespect shown to former Deputy Chief Minister Narayanaswamy during his visit for Lord Venkateswara’s darshan, and claimed that even Members of the Legislative Council were not being treated with due respect.
Demand for Independent Probe
Concluding his remarks, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy demanded an independent and comprehensive inquiry into all allegations concerning the SVIMS and TTD recruitment processes.
He stated that only a transparent investigation can safeguard TTD’s reputation, maintain devotees’ trust, and uphold the dignity of the institution.
