Student safety in government schools across Andhra Pradesh has come under serious scrutiny following a shocking incident in Rapthadu, Anantapur district. A Class 10 girl student was brutally attacked with a wood-cutting saw by an unidentified assailant inside a government school.
According to reports, the accused entered the school premises and attacked the girl inside her classroom. The assault was so severe that her right hand was severed, while she also sustained serious injuries to her face.
Another girl student was also injured when she tried to stop the attacker. Both injured students were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
The attack inside the classroom created panic among students, teachers and local residents. After receiving information about the incident, police launched a search operation to trace the accused.
Family Demands Justice for Injured Student
Meanwhile, relatives of the injured girl have expressed serious concern and anger over the incident. The girl’s aunt said that the student had never previously complained about anyone harassing or troubling her.
She added that the girl regularly travelled to school by auto-rickshaw. Questioning the lack of security in government schools, she expressed concern over how children could feel safe if they were not protected even inside school premises.
Serious Questions Over School Security
The incident has raised several questions about student safety and security arrangements in Andhra Pradesh government schools.
How did the attacker manage to enter the school premises carrying a dangerous wood-cutting saw? Why were outsiders allowed inside the school without proper security checks? What responsibility do teachers and school staff have in ensuring the safety of students?
These questions have intensified concerns over the security of girl students in government educational institutions.
The victim’s relatives have demanded strict punishment for the accused, irrespective of his identity or relationship with the family. They have also called for justice for the injured girl and accountability for the security lapses.
The brutal attack has triggered widespread concern in Rapthadu, bringing the issue of student safety in government schools back into focus.
