Alleged Misconduct with Police Under the Influence of Alcohol? Case Registered Against AP IAS Officer Vikas Marmat

An alleged incident involving Andhra Pradesh IAS officer Vikas Marmat has drawn attention after reports emerged that a criminal case was registered against him in Bengaluru. Marmat, who serves as the Project Director of the Kuppam Area Development Authority, was reportedly involved in an argument with police officers during a late-night inspection at a pub.

According to reports, the incident took place at Kavoor Pub on Residency Road in Bengaluru. Central Crime Branch (CCB) police officers conducted an inspection at around 1:30 AM on October 9, 2026. During the operation, Marmat allegedly behaved rudely with the police and used abusive language.

Reports suggest that a case was registered against Vikas Marmat and three other individuals identified as Abhay Uday Singh, Nithish, and Roshan. The case was reportedly registered at Cubbon Park Police Station under Case No. 150/2026.

However, the complete details of the incident and the allegations against those named in the case have yet to be officially clarified. The response of the concerned authorities is also awaited.

Previous Controversies Involving Andhra Pradesh Officials

The latest incident has brought renewed attention to earlier reports involving individuals connected to Andhra Pradesh government officials.

In August 2025, reports stated that Manideep, a deputy tahsildar from Rajahmundry, was arrested during a police raid on an alleged drug party in the Kondapur–Gachibowli area of Hyderabad.

Similarly, in April 2026, reports emerged that the son of an IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh was among seven people detained during a raid at a pub in Hyderabad over allegations of drug consumption.

These incidents have sparked public discussion about the conduct of government officials and their family members. However, the allegations in each case need to be assessed separately based on verified facts and official findings.

Questions Over the Conduct of Government Officials

Government officials hold positions of public responsibility and are expected to maintain professional standards both in their official duties and in their public conduct.

Allegations involving senior officials can raise concerns about administrative accountability, discipline, and the reputation of public institutions. At the same time, allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt unless established through the appropriate legal process.

The latest case involving Vikas Marmat has renewed discussions about the need for responsible conduct, effective oversight, and accountability within the administrative system.

Further official information is awaited regarding the Bengaluru incident and the allegations made against the individuals named in the case.
