India added another gold medal to its tally at the Asian Games 2026, with shooter Neeru Dhanda winning gold in the women’s individual trap shooting event. Her victory in Nagoya on Tuesday, September 29, marked a historic achievement as she became the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games gold in trap shooting.
Neeru Dhanda Scores 28 Points
Neeru Dhanda delivered a strong performance in the individual trap final, finishing with 28 points to take the gold medal. China’s Sun Yunong won silver with 26 points, while Kuwait’s Hajar Abdulmalik secured the bronze medal with 21 points.
Dhanda’s score also surpassed the previous Asian Games record of 24 points, underlining the significance of her performance in the final.
Historic Achievement for Indian Shooting
The gold medal is another major milestone in Dhanda’s breakthrough 2026 season. Earlier this year, she became the first Indian woman to win an individual trap gold at an ISSF World Cup, achieving the feat in Lonato, Italy.
At the ongoing Asian Games, Dhanda had already helped India win silver in the women’s trap team event alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer. The Indian trio finished behind China in the team competition.
India Adds Another Shooting Gold
Neeru Dhanda’s individual gold adds to India’s medal haul at the Asian Games 2026 and gives the country another gold medal in shooting. Her performance also highlights India’s strong showing in the shooting events at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
With her record-breaking display in the women’s trap final, Neeru Dhanda has now added a historic Asian Games title to her growing list of international achievements.
