Different Views on DJ Sounds During Ganesh Immersion
The debate over DJ sounds in Andhra Pradesh has resurfaced during the Ganesh immersion festivities. Amid differing views among the government and public representatives over permitting DJs during immersion processions across the state, Deputy Speaker and Undi MLA Raghurama Krishna Raju’s decision in his constituency has attracted political attention.
While Minister Nara Lokesh, Home Minister Anita and the DGPs have reportedly been urged through social media not to create difficulties for DJ vehicles or seize any DJ vehicles, Raghurama Krishna Raju, who also holds a key position in the same government, has made it clear that DJs will not be permitted in his constituency. This has led to discussion over why different approaches are being seen within the same government on the issue of DJ sounds.
Raghurama Opposes DJ Sounds in Undi
Some local youths from the Undi constituency recently met Raghurama Krishna Raju and requested permission to use DJ sound systems during Ganesh immersion celebrations.
However, he did not agree to allow immersion processions featuring high-volume DJ sounds. Raghurama reportedly explained the difficulties that excessive noise can cause to the public and showed the youths a recent newspaper report titled “A Heart Stopped Due to DJ Sounds.”
He reportedly pointed out that high-volume sounds and excessive decibel levels could cause difficulties for elderly people, patients and children. He suggested that Ganesh immersion celebrations should be conducted peacefully and in a traditional manner.
Instead of DJs, he advised organisers to use traditional musical instruments, devotional songs and bhajans. Following his appeal, local youths are understood to have agreed to conduct the immersion celebrations without DJs.
Chaganti’s Earlier Remarks on DJ Sounds
Meanwhile, the earlier comments of prominent spiritual speaker Chaganti Koteswara Rao on DJ sounds have also come into focus.
The coalition government appointed him as an adviser to provide guidance on issues related to students and the promotion of moral values in society. In the past, he had expressed concern over the problems caused to elderly and sick people by excessive DJ sounds during Ganesh immersion processions.
He had also suggested that immersion celebrations could be conducted using traditional musical instruments and bhajans instead of excessively loud DJ systems.
Lokesh’s Appeal Over DJ Vehicles
At the same time, Lokesh’s appeal not to create difficulties for DJ vehicles or seize them, reportedly following requests from TDP workers and other sections, has become a topic of discussion.
On one side, a government-appointed adviser has previously advised caution regarding excessive DJ sounds. On the other, Minister Lokesh has appealed against seizing DJ vehicles, while Raghurama Krishna Raju has denied permission for DJs in his constituency.
These developments have led to discussion over whether different messages are being conveyed by leaders associated with the coalition government on the same issue.
Different Approaches Within the Coalition Government
Raghurama’s decision to deny permission in Undi despite Lokesh’s state-level appeal has also raised questions about how government positions and appeals are being implemented at the ground level.
The issue has particularly triggered discussion because leaders holding key positions in the coalition government appear to have different approaches toward DJ sounds during Ganesh immersion celebrations.
While Lokesh’s appeal focuses on ensuring that DJ vehicles are not subjected to difficulties or seizure, Raghurama has taken a more restrictive approach in his constituency, citing public health and noise-related concerns.
Debate Over Lokesh’s Political Image
Overall, the contrasting positions on DJ sounds have taken the issue beyond the conduct of Ganesh immersion celebrations. Lokesh’s appeal at the state level and Raghurama Krishna Raju’s decision in Undi have become part of a wider discussion about differing approaches among public representatives within the coalition government.
Some political observers and sections of the public are of the view that such differences could have an impact on Lokesh’s image, particularly as he is being projected as a future leader of the party. However, the extent of any such political impact remains a matter of interpretation.
