YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has once again made serious allegations of irregularities in DSC recruitments, particularly concerning the sports quota, fake certificates, appointments of candidates allegedly lacking TET eligibility, and the certificate verification process.
Addressing a media conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan raised several key issues surrounding the DSC recruitment process. He demanded a CBI probe into the alleged scam and called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
Allegations of Jobs Through Sports Quota
Jagan questioned how candidates allegedly lacking the required qualifications were appointed through the sports quota. He alleged that some candidates were given jobs despite not having TET eligibility and that appointments were made even though questions had been raised over certificates related to sports such as judo.
He also questioned the claim by officials that certificate verification had been conducted seven times. Despite repeated verification, the entire process appeared to be bogus, he alleged.
According to Jagan, the biggest irregularity in the DSC recruitment process was the alleged appointment of candidates without even appearing for the examination.
Visakhapatnam Candidate and ‘Family Package’ Allegations
Jagan alleged that Yogeshwara Rao from Visakhapatnam was appointed to an SGT post under the sports quota without appearing for the examination.
He also referred to the appointment of Yogeshwara Rao’s sister and alleged that government jobs had effectively been distributed as a “family package.”
Jagan said the Telangana Kho-Kho Association had clarified that the names of Yogeshwara Rao and Mohini Devi were not included in the list of participants in the event cited for their sports credentials.
He also referred to the cases of Pragada Kalyani and Ediga Prabhakar, saying that several questions had emerged regarding their eligibility and certificates.
Fake Certificate Allegations in Judo and Softball
Jagan further alleged that irregularities involving fake certificates had also occurred in the judo and softball categories.
He referred to the political connections of individuals associated with the respective sports organisations and alleged that these cases raised suspicions of a possible nexus from the higher levels of the system to the lower levels.
He demanded that the entire process be independently investigated to establish whether the certificates submitted by candidates were genuine and whether the prescribed eligibility criteria were followed.
Allegations Against APPSC Recruitment Process
Jagan also made allegations regarding the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
He claimed that an attempt had been made to fill government posts without conducting an examination. According to him, of the 814 posts that had received clearance during the previous YSRCP government, an attempt was allegedly made through GO No. 4 to fill 40 posts without an examination.
Jagan alleged that the attempt was subsequently stopped after the DSC controversy came to light.
Why a CBI Probe Is Necessary: Jagan
Jagan questioned whether state government officials could conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations when the recruitment process itself involved the departments and authorities under the state government.
He criticised Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh, alleging that their actions had weakened public confidence in government institutions.
“This is why we are demanding a CBI investigation,” Jagan said, asserting that an independent probe was necessary to establish the facts.
He also made it clear that the YSRCP would continue its legal battle in court until justice was delivered to unemployed youth.
Jagan Responds to Lokesh’s ‘Tree With Fruits’ Remark
Jagan also responded to Education Minister Nara Lokesh’s remarks on the DSC controversy, in which Lokesh had said that “only a tree bearing fruits gets pelted with stones.”
Jagan criticised the response from both Chandrababu and Lokesh, alleging that their explanations regarding the DSC recruitment controversy were attempts to cover up the facts rather than provide answers to the questions being raised.
Silence of BJP and Jana Sena Questioned
Jagan also questioned the silence of the BJP and Jana Sena Party over the allegations surrounding DSC recruitments.
He said that if the issues he had raised were genuine, all political parties should respond to them.
He specifically called upon BJP and Jana Sena leaders, who support the coalition government, to answer the questions being raised over the recruitment process.
‘DSC Scam Is a Gem in Chandrababu’s History of Scandals’
Taking a sharp political swipe at Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan described the DSC controversy as a “gem” in the history of scams associated with Chandrababu’s political career.
He further remarked that when institutions become weak, public dissatisfaction grows and new movements emerge.
Jagan also used the term “cockroaches” to describe the kind of political developments that, according to him, emerge when such scams and institutional failures continue.
Demand for an Independent Investigation
Jagan once again demanded that the state government provide a comprehensive response to all allegations surrounding DSC recruitments and allow an independent investigation to establish the facts.
He maintained that questions over sports quota appointments, alleged fake certificates, TET eligibility, examination exemptions and the verification process cannot be ignored.
The YSRCP chief said the party would continue its political and legal fight until justice was delivered to the unemployed candidates who were allegedly affected by the recruitment irregularities.
