Medical education in Andhra Pradesh has become more expensive, with the state government increasing tuition fees for various categories in private medical and dental colleges. The Chandrababu Naidu-led government has issued orders revising the fees for MBBS, BDS, postgraduate (PG) and super-speciality courses.
While tuition fees for MBBS and BDS courses have been increased by 10 percent, fees for PG medical education and super-speciality courses have been increased by 15 percent. The government issued the orders on Saturday.
MBBS Fees Increased in Private Medical Colleges
The government has revised the tuition fees for MBBS courses in private medical colleges across different categories.
Under the revised fee structure:
- MBBS A Category: ₹18,150
- MBBS B Category: ₹14.52 lakh
- MBBS C Category: ₹43.56 lakh
The increase is expected to add to the financial burden on students and families seeking admission to private medical colleges.
BDS Fees Also Revised
Tuition fees for BDS courses in private dental colleges have also been increased by 10 percent.
The revised fee structure is:
- BDS A Category: ₹15,730
- BDS B Category: ₹4.84 lakh
- BDS C Category: ₹14.52 lakh
With dental education costs also rising, students planning to pursue BDS courses in private colleges will have to make additional financial arrangements.
PG Medical Fees Hiked by 15 Percent
The state government has also revised the tuition fees for postgraduate medical education.
Fees for PG medical courses in private unaided professional medical and dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh have been increased by 15 percent for the 2026-27 academic year.
The revision will be implemented over the fees fixed for the 2025-26 academic year.
Super-Speciality Course Fee Fixed at ₹19.83 Lakh
The government has separately revised the tuition fees for super-speciality courses offered by private unaided professional medical and dental colleges in the state.
After applying a 15 percent increase to the existing fee for 2025-26, the government has fixed the tuition fee for super-speciality courses for the 2026-27 academic year at ₹19,83,750.
Increased Financial Burden on Students and Parents
Medical education in private colleges is already considered expensive, particularly for families seeking admission under the B and C categories. The latest fee hike is expected to further increase the financial burden on students and their parents.
The sharp difference in fees across categories could make medical education even less affordable for middle-class families. Students aspiring to pursue MBBS, BDS, PG or super-speciality courses in private institutions may now have to arrange significantly higher amounts towards tuition fees.
The latest fee revisions have therefore triggered concerns over the rising cost of professional medical education in Andhra Pradesh and the growing financial pressure on families aspiring to provide medical education to their children.
