The APJAC Amaravati has announced a three-phase agitation plan to press for the resolution of various issues faced by state government employees. The demands include payment of employees’ pending dues, implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), Interim Relief (IR), Dearness Allowance (DA), and other pending financial benefits.
The employees’ body has decided to organize various forms of protests from August 31 to September 26. It has warned that if the government fails to respond positively, the agitation will be intensified after September 26.
First Phase of Agitation: August 31 to September 11
The first phase of the agitation will be held from August 31 to September 11.
On August 31, hundreds of employees will approach the district collectors and submit agitation notices through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS).
From September 1, employees will begin a campaign using the WhatsApp DP slogan:
“CM Sir… Give Us Our Money.”
Employees will also wear black badges from September 1 to 5 as a mark of protest.
From September 2 to 8, pamphlets will be distributed to all employee associations across the districts, inviting them to participate in the agitation.
On September 3 and 5, employees will stage protests during lunch breaks at the offices of district collectors and Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs).
On September 11, round-table meetings will be conducted in all districts to discuss the employees’ issues and chalk out plans to expand the agitation.
Second Phase: September 15 to September 26
The second phase of the agitation will continue from September 15 to 26.
As part of the protest, employees will undertake a “Work to Rule” campaign from September 15 to 26, strictly adhering to government rules and working within the prescribed limits.
From September 15 to 22, employees will undertake a major social media campaign highlighting their pending dues and demands related to PRC, IR and DA. DP images, photographs and reels will be used to spread the campaign.
Appeals to Public Representatives
From September 15 to 25, the employee associations will submit memoranda to elected representatives, including MLAs, MPs and MLCs, urging them to intervene and help resolve the employees’ financial issues.
On September 17, employees will wear black scarves and organize a human chain with the slogan:
“CM Sir… Give Us Our Money.”
On September 23, protests and dharnas will be held at Collectorate and RDO offices across the state.
Statewide Dharna With Employees’ Families
On September 26, APJAC Amaravati has decided to organize statewide dharnas along with employees’ family members.
The protests will be held under the slogan:
“Give Us Our Money.”
The organization has made it clear that if there is no positive response from the government even after these protests, the agitation will move into its third phase.
Third Phase Could Include Strike-Like Actions
After September 26, APJAC Amaravati plans to conduct two multi-zone-level meetings to decide the next course of action.
Depending on the government’s response, the employee organizations are prepared to intensify the agitation further. The proposed measures include:
- Non-cooperation movement
- Relay hunger strikes
- “Chalo Vijayawada” programme
- Indefinite strike
The employee associations have indicated that they are prepared to take stronger measures if their demands remain unresolved.
Government’s Response Under Focus
The key demands of the employees include the settlement of pending financial dues, PRC, IR, DA and other monetary benefits.
The coming days will determine whether the state government responds to the demands of its employees or whether the agitation by employee associations develops into a statewide movement.
