A private resort party reportedly held in Visakhapatnam has triggered controversy following allegations of a clash between two groups and a knife attack on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader. The party was reportedly organised as part of the birthday celebrations of an actress associated with the popular Telugu comedy show Jabardasth.
Several TDP and Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF) leaders, including women leaders, are reportedly said to have attended the gathering. According to reports, an argument broke out between two groups over women after alcohol consumption, eventually escalating into a physical confrontation.
Party Reportedly Held at Resort Near Anandapuram
The party reportedly began on Tuesday night at Happy Nature Resorts near Shontyanku in Anandapuram mandal. Around 70 people are said to have attended the celebrations.
There are also reports that a substantial quantity of foreign liquor was consumed during the event. An argument allegedly broke out between two groups in an inebriated state and later escalated into a physical confrontation.
TDP Leader Allegedly Attacked With Knife
The situation reportedly became more tense in the early hours of Wednesday, at around 4 a.m.
TDP leader Mammula Venkat Dinesh, who reportedly runs a resort in Araku, was allegedly attacked with a knife by Yarra Charan Teja. Dinesh reportedly suffered a serious injury to the rear portion of his left shoulder and was shifted to Visakhapatnam’s VIMS hospital for treatment.
He is reportedly continuing to receive medical treatment.
Questions Over Initial Police Response
Several questions have been raised over the alleged delay in the police response to the incident.
As the names of ruling-party leaders have reportedly surfaced in connection with the party, allegations have emerged that attempts were made to downplay the incident and settle the dispute between the two groups.
There were also reports that pressure was allegedly exerted to avoid registering a case by portraying the injury as an accidental knife injury. However, these claims require verification through an official investigation.
Case Reportedly Registered After Medico-Legal Case
The incident reportedly became a medico-legal case (MLC) at the hospital. Following this, police were reportedly compelled to take further action.
According to information available so far, Anandapuram police registered an attempt-to-murder case against Yarra Charan Teja. He is reportedly in police custody.

The Happy Nature Resorts, where the incident allegedly took place, is reportedly associated with TDP leader Majji Shekhar.
