Unity on the Surface, Differences Within?
Although the Jana Sena–Telugu Desam alliance continues to project an image of unity, questions are increasingly being raised over whether internal differences between the two parties are gradually deepening. Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has expressed his desire for the alliance to continue for at least 15 years. However, political circles are closely watching the reported lack of coordination between leaders and cadres of the two parties at the grassroots level.
There appears to be dissatisfaction among Jana Sena leaders and workers that they are not receiving adequate respect from the TDP. At the same time, a section of TDP cadre reportedly feels that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is giving greater importance to Pawan Kalyan than to his own party workers. These contrasting perceptions are believed to be creating growing resentment within both camps.
Social Media Disputes Add to Tensions
The growing number of social media disputes, public criticisms and mutual allegations between supporters of the two parties has further intensified concerns over alliance coordination.
A recent controversy erupted on social media over allegations that Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao Jr. was deliberately targeted and trolled in connection with a film involving Nagababu’s son. Supporters of the TDP and Jana Sena engaged in criticism of each other during the controversy. The absence of a clear response from the senior leadership of the TDP has also reportedly contributed to dissatisfaction among sections of the cadre.
Ongole Dispute Becomes Public
Differences between the TDP and Jana Sena in Ongole have also reportedly escalated into public allegations and challenges. The developments have raised questions about coordination between the two alliance partners.
Political observers believe that repeated incidents at the grassroots level could be exposing the growing distance between sections of the TDP and Jana Sena cadres, despite the leadership continuing to maintain a united front.
Pawan Kalyan’s Absence From Meetings Sparks Debate
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s absence from some Cabinet meetings in recent times, along with his reported non-participation in several meetings involving district collectors, has also become a subject of political discussion.
These developments have led to speculation over the extent of his role in key policy decisions of the government. Although there may be administrative or official reasons behind his absence, the pattern has nevertheless attracted political attention.
Bhogapuram Airport Event Raises Questions
The issue gained further attention during the inauguration programme related to the Bhogapuram airport, where alliance leaders appeared together on the same stage.
However, political circles noted that Pawan Kalyan’s speech largely focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while he did not make a specific reference to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. This too triggered discussion about the political dynamics within the alliance.
Different Priorities in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam
More recently, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana invited Pawan Kalyan to attend the inauguration of several Amaravati capital development projects.
The projects include the Seed Access Road, residential complexes for MLAs and MLCs, two steel bridges and Phase-II of the Seed Access Road. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to attend the inauguration programme.
Pawan Kalyan, however, indicated that he would be attending the World Elephant Day programme being organised at the national level in Visakhapatnam.
Political Speculation Over Pawan’s Absence
Pawan Kalyan explained that the World Elephant Day programme was being held in Visakhapatnam at his request to bring a national-level event to the state.
Nevertheless, the fact that two key leaders of the same government are scheduled to attend separate major programmes on the same day has become a subject of political discussion.
Amaravati development projects have faced criticism and allegations of irregularities, and some political observers are speculating whether Pawan Kalyan’s decision to stay away from the programme has any political significance. However, there is no clear evidence that his absence is linked to such allegations, making this an area of political speculation rather than an established fact.
Is the Alliance Gap Growing?
Taken together, these developments are raising fresh questions about coordination between the Jana Sena and TDP. While the alliance leadership continues to project unity, differences among sections of the cadre and leaders appear to be increasingly visible in public.
The key question now is whether these are isolated incidents or signs of a deeper political gap within the alliance. The manner in which the senior leadership of both parties responds to such developments in the coming days could determine whether the alliance’s internal coordination strengthens or whether these differences become more pronounced.
