YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly condemned the alleged attacks on protest camps during the ongoing statewide protests over DSC-2025 recruitments. He said that attacking unemployed youth who are holding peaceful protests is against the spirit of democracy. Responding on social media platform X, Jagan said, “You cannot silence the voice of Andhra Pradesh Gen Z. This fight will not stop until justice is delivered.”
Jagan Alleges Government Responding With Violence
Jagan alleged that unemployed youth have been peacefully demanding a CBI investigation into the alleged DSC-2025 question paper leak and irregularities in the recruitment process, but the government is responding with violence. He criticised the government for allegedly trying to suppress the movement by targeting protesters.
Alleged Attack on Vijayawada Protest Camp
Jagan alleged that supporters of a ruling party MLA attacked a relay hunger strike camp in Vijayawada and damaged the tents. He claimed that former MLA Malladi Vishnu and unemployed youth were attacked with stones, eggs and tomatoes. He also alleged that women protesters were targeted and that the incidents took place in the presence of police personnel.
Protests Targeted in Several Districts
According to Jagan, protest camps were allegedly attacked in several areas, including Chilakaluripet, Kanigiri, Yadiki, Tadipatri, Palamaneru, Repalle, Guntur, Ponnur, Vemuru, Macherla, Gurazala, Kandukur and Bapatla. He further alleged that several leaders were taken into police custody.
Jagan criticised the government, saying that even the constitutional right to hold peaceful protests was being undermined. He said that the government should respect the democratic rights of unemployed youth instead of attempting to suppress their protests.
Why Fear a CBI Probe, Jagan Asks
Jagan questioned why the government was allegedly reluctant to order a CBI investigation if it was confident that the DSC-2025 recruitment process had been conducted in a completely transparent manner. He demanded that Education Minister Nara Lokesh take responsibility for the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and resign from his post.
Demand to Clear Fee Reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena Dues
Jagan also demanded the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena funds, which he claimed had reached around Rs. 9,000 crore. He urged the government to clear the pending dues without further delay.
Demand for Unemployment Allowance
Jagan further demanded that the government fulfil its election manifesto promise of providing Rs. 3,000 per month as unemployment allowance to unemployed youth. He called for payment of the pending amount for the last two years along with the current dues.
‘Evidence Cannot Be Erased’, Jagan Says
Jagan said that the government may demolish protest camps or arrest protesters, but it cannot erase the alleged evidence related to the DSC question paper leak and irregularities in the recruitment process.
He said that the anger among unemployed youth cannot be suppressed through force and asserted that their movement would continue until justice is delivered. The YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister reiterated his support for the protesting unemployed youth and strongly condemned the alleged attacks on their protest camps.
