Jagan Accuses Coalition Government of Targeting Seediri Family
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the coalition government of engaging in political vendetta by targeting the family of former minister Seediri Appalaraju. He alleged that a road accident was being deliberately portrayed as a murder case in an attempt to implicate the former minister’s family for political reasons.
Jagan Meets Family Outside Jail After Mulakat Denied
Jagan visited Ampolu Jail to meet Seediri Appalaraju, who is currently lodged there. However, he was not granted permission for a jail mulakat due to prison rules. Instead, Jagan met Appalaraju’s family members outside the jail and later addressed the media, strongly criticizing the state government’s handling of the case.
“Road Accident Being Turned Into Murder Case”
Speaking to reporters, Jagan said Appalaraju’s 18-year-old son is a medical aspirant whose future is being jeopardized by what he described as a politically motivated case. According to him, the incident was an unfortunate road accident, but authorities were attempting to portray it as a premeditated murder.
He further claimed that immediately after the accident, the young man informed emergency services by calling 108 and even attempted CPR to save the victim. Despite these actions, Jagan alleged that investigators had altered the nature of the case to falsely implicate the family.
Allegations of Double Standards in Law Enforcement
Jagan alleged that Seediri Appalaraju, a prominent leader from the Backward Classes (BC) community, was being selectively targeted due to political rivalry. He claimed that similar incidents involving leaders of the ruling alliance were treated differently, while opposition leaders faced harsher legal action.
He argued that if the government’s real intention was to secure justice for the victim’s family, it should have facilitated reconciliation and extended support to both families instead of using the incident for political gain.
Jagan Raises Concerns Over BCs, Fishermen and Yadava Communities
During his address, Jagan also spoke about broader issues affecting BC communities, fishermen, and Yadavas. He alleged that the coalition government had failed to implement several election promises and was filing false criminal cases against those who questioned its policies.
He assured that the YSRCP would stand firmly with Seediri Appalaraju’s family and expressed confidence that justice would ultimately prevail.
Jail Rules Prevented Meeting With Appalaraju
Meanwhile, Jagan’s visit witnessed a large turnout of party supporters, causing delays in the schedule. By the time he reached the jail, it was after 5:00 PM. Jail authorities informed him that, under prison regulations, mulakat permissions are granted only before 5:00 PM.
As a result, Jagan was unable to meet Appalaraju inside the jail. He instead met the former minister’s family outside the prison premises before addressing the media.
