Revanth Reddy Targets AP Government Over Fee Reimbursement Arrears
Recent comments made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy have reignited political debate in Andhra Pradesh over the long-pending fee reimbursement dues. Addressing Rajya Sabha MP R. Krishnaiah, whom he identified as a representative from Andhra Pradesh, Revanth Reddy suggested that the AP government should first clear the pending fee reimbursement amounts owed to students before criticizing the Telangana government.
₹10,700 Crore Pending for 11 Lakh Students
According to Revanth Reddy, nearly 11 lakh students pursuing degree, engineering, and postgraduate courses across Andhra Pradesh are awaiting fee reimbursement payments. He alleged that the NDA-led Andhra Pradesh government has kept around ₹10,700 crore in fee reimbursement dues pending, causing severe hardship for students.
He stated that resolving this issue in Andhra Pradesh should be the government’s immediate priority before raising questions about the policies of the Telangana government.
Fresh Questions Over Higher Education Administration
Revanth Reddy’s remarks have once again brought the condition of higher education in Andhra Pradesh into the spotlight. Political observers and education activists argue that thousands of students are facing financial stress because the fee reimbursement scheme has not been implemented effectively.
The Higher Education Department, headed by Minister Nara Lokesh, has now come under renewed scrutiny. Political circles believe that Revanth Reddy’s comments have strengthened criticism regarding the department’s handling of student welfare.
Opposition Demands Answers from the Government
Opposition parties and student organizations have repeatedly questioned the government over delays in releasing fee reimbursement funds. They allege that instead of providing clear explanations, the government has dismissed criticism without addressing the core issues.
With Revanth Reddy directly highlighting the fee reimbursement issue, attention has now shifted to whether Minister Nara Lokesh will respond to the allegations and clarify the government’s position.
Previous Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Remarks Recalled
Political analysts have also recalled Revanth Reddy’s earlier remarks regarding the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, which had sparked controversy in Andhra Pradesh. His claim that he played a role in halting the project led to criticism of the state’s leadership, particularly in the Rayalaseema region.
Now, his latest comments targeting the Andhra Pradesh government over fee reimbursement have once again intensified political discussions on governance and public welfare.
Political Debate Intensifies
Overall, Revanth Reddy’s statements have added momentum to the ongoing debate over student welfare and governance in Andhra Pradesh. Critics argue that the delay in clearing fee reimbursement dues reflects administrative shortcomings and has placed lakhs of students under financial pressure. Political observers believe the issue is likely to remain a key point of discussion until the government provides a detailed response regarding the pending dues.
