Lakshmi Parvathi Alleges ‘Rule of Fear’ in Andhra Pradesh
YSRCP State General Secretary Lakshmi Parvathi launched a sharp attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government, alleging that the state is being governed by a “rule of fear” instead of the rule of law. She accused the government of pushing the state into darkness through corruption and illegal practices and warned that invoking stringent laws like the UAPA against those who question the government poses a serious threat to democracy.
Government Failed to Protect Farmers, Women and Employees
Addressing the media, Lakshmi Parvathi claimed that farmers, workers, women, employees, and other sections of society are facing severe hardships under the current administration. She alleged that despite atrocities against women by coalition leaders and party workers, the government has failed to take appropriate action.
She further accused the government of weakening the police system and said that under what she described as “Red Book governance,” ordinary citizens no longer feel protected.
Criticism Over UAPA Cases and Law Enforcement
Lakshmi Parvathi strongly condemned the alleged use of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against individuals who question the government. She termed the practice dangerous for democracy and criticized the state’s leadership, alleging that Andhra Pradesh’s future is being placed in inexperienced hands.
She also alleged that the government has remained indifferent despite custodial deaths occurring in police lock-ups. According to her, valuable government assets are being handed over to private individuals in exchange for massive commissions, while huge amounts of wealth are allegedly being accumulated and invested abroad.
Allegations in Topudurthi Prakash Reddy Case
Lakshmi Parvathi alleged that even YSRCP leader Topudurthi Prakash Reddy is not safe in the state. She claimed that there was an attempt on his life by deliberately ramming a tipper vehicle into him and alleged that, instead of acting against those responsible, the police registered a case against Prakash Reddy himself.
Referring to the Sai Krishna murder case, she expressed concern over the handling of the incident, alleging that even the victim’s ashes were not handed over to the family.
Industrial Growth Hit Under Current Government, Says Lakshmi Parvathi
Lakshmi Parvathi further alleged that Andhra Pradesh is losing its industrial appeal, forcing investors and industrialists to shift to other states. She claimed that the Kadapa Steel Plant remained stalled for two years and accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of taking credit for projects that were initiated during former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure.
She also criticized the government’s foreign investment outreach, alleging that the Davos visits failed to attract significant new industries to the state. Concluding her remarks, she said that people in Andhra Pradesh are currently living in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity under the present government.
